Yeah 2025 will be the end of the R1 for Road use, like the R6 you will only be able to buy track versions due to the stupid euro emmisions rules, I wonder how many more superbike will go, due to the bloody Europeans
like mine, I had all the bits before the bike new bike for me next year, still not sure what to get but you should enjoy the R1, they corner as if on rails
Yep, J Tech tail tidy, 7x5 number plate, paddock stand bobbins and Akra all ordered now!! Will be interested to see what you go for @SimonRR !! I didnt really consider any other bikes before ordering the R1, then about an hour after I thought am I doing the right thing.......? This was my thought process...... Kawasaki......don't like them. Ducati.......had one. Suzuki.....nah. Honda......love them, but too small for me. Aprilia.......again too small. BMW........tiny. Yamaha........Yes I am doing the right thing!
I Cant imagine the Honda is any smaller than the R1 and the BMW seems bigger/more roomey?, the new R1 is smaller than your old one, I feel to big at 6', but still enjoyed it, still not made my mind up yet, might even go for a Naked who knows Apilia Tuano Triumph speed triple 1200 RS Ducati pani v4s Blade rrrrrrrrrrr R1M nakeds feels better on my long legs, but heart feels better on a Blade/R1M/Pani V4S
I've not actually sat on any of the other bikes, but in terms of seat height and overall appearance, 24 R1 is definitely the bigger bike believe it or not. New R1 seat height, 855mm, 09 R1 835mm, 1000RRR 828mm and BMW S1000R 824mm. We are talking 30mils of seat height here which is huge. The wheelbase on the BM and Honda are slightly bigger by 2 inches, but with stubby little rear seat units just makes the bike look smaller too. While seat unit on the R1 is longer and more substantial making it again 'appear' the bigger bike! You can see how I've convinced myself that I've made the right decision here can't you lads and lass!!! Like you Simon, I'm tall and I tend to shy away from bikes that I'll make look like a mini moto!!!
All I can say is the New R1 feels like a 600cc in size compared to my 06 blade, the seat is high, but so are the pegs, you sit "on" an R1, you sit more "In" other bikes, so the reviews say it's very race orientated, so I fitted adjustable clipons to give me more reach Had it for 8 years though, so must be fun...enjoy
As predicted the Akra has arrived before the bike, just looking at this should keep me happy for now! Just look at that 'hole'
