Hi, just joined today, picking up my first Fireblade next weekend hopefully. I've got a question(s) if anyone has any thoughts:
So the bike I'm getting (08) has a power commander 3 already on it, I'm looking at various insurance quotes, without the PC prices are high but at a level I'm comfortable with, with the PC it's a different story. I'm not at a level yet where having the PC will make a massive difference to my riding, is it worth keeping it on and swallowing the insurance price or can I remove it? Never dealt with one before so looking for some guidance. The bike has a LeoVince GP pro exhaust and
    Heal tech quick shifter

You could ask your insurance company if you could run it with the "zero map" loaded so the PC3 isn't doing anything and it's effectively disabled? I imagine they probably wont be able to comprehend that.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Good luck with the new bike!

I wouldn't even bother declaring it, just act daft! :D

The power commander is needed to sort the fuelling out due to the after market exhaust you have, if you load a base map in the bike won't run right. Once you modify the bike and add a performance aspect the insurance company immediately increases the quote. The fact you have a power commander, after market exhaust and quickshifter you will have to pay a premium I'm afraid, or put it all back standard.

I don't think the fuelling will be too far out with the base map and a slip on tbh.

Paul has the right idea in this instance I think ;)

Ignorance is bliss but I have been asked by the insurance if it’s increases performance by a certain percentage before to which you would naturally answer no, it’s just to smooth out the throttle response and to make it run properly

If your silencer has the O2 sensor fitted, then you can safely remove the PC 3 (alternatively you can plus in an O2 eliminator)
But make sure it is removed properly and not done by a cow boy

I always ran a Power Commander on my earlier Blades and never bothered declaring it.

I ran them to smooth out the injection and throttle, not for a performance increase. My 02 954 was written off and was initially recovered back to the dealer who put a quote together. I gave the quote to the insurance assessor when he came out and after about 10 secs he said to me "what's the front wheel assembly".

I'd already removed any aftermarket parts but after that it could have been a bus he was looking at so I didn't worry about it.
