If you view someone's profile there is an "Add to ignore list" option. I have used this in other forums but it can be a bit annoying at times as it can disrupt the flow of a thread you are reading, and if someone else quotes the person you ignore then you still see the quote.
I've used that at least twice, Pete. And the moderators swung into action and squared things. It's a good system cos they cannot look at every post and we all take responsibility. As far as I can work out we only have 2 active moderators and it seems a busy forum for them to cover everything.
Just got back from 2 weeks holiday mostly out if range on a cruise, must admit to being surprised at some of the stress that has been occurring. I have always found this forum largely friendly, informative and often witty......unlike any number of car forums you go on, though nothing is the same forever, but it really comes down to the members themselves to police it and hopefully the trolls get driven out when they are bored. We all make comments at times we probably regret 10 mins later, so hopefully most will keep the good work going.
I love this forum I'm not on as often as I'd like but I attended our Tour of Scotland and I had one the best weekend of my life! It wasn't the scenery or the road the made it! It was the guys they were all second to none and I felt special to be apart of it! So me for one will continue to stay and fight! If we just keep the numpties in check hopefully we'll see it through and rejoice in the fact we are all apart of the best forum by far! Don't let these idiots spoil it!
not sure where the bad undertones are, obviously you're going to get people that post shite, and are confronational with thier replies, but it happens on forums, and in life generally, and then the busier the forum gets, the more people you get like that.careful moderation is needed to stop flame wars and threads getting into slanging matches, this usually deters the knob heads as they dont get the fuel to keep on winding people up. i'll give my opinion when i have one,or share my experience,if i dont agree with someone i'll say,but thats what it is,a difference of opinion and always try to do it in a polite way but i can be a little sarcastic and thats hard to get across in the written form.
Different people read the same sentence in different ways, I always try to think how I would read something that I had posted and see how it came across. I have seen forums destroyed by numpties whose sole purpose in life is to rip newbies threads to pieces, say they are better riders than Rossi and generally thrive off whipping up bad feeling. BTW, this forum has always been and wil be one of the best, why? , cos the people on here have a passion, bikes and in particular, the best road going non rider aided bike ever created IMHO. So NUFF SAID and by the way, I'm glad I'm back !
Sorry Lambeth " Its Mard arse" as in stop being a Mard arse .But I think you could be converted ,not sure if we could ween you off "The Jellied eels" and Sausage and mash though.
It bloody well is hard and I have made Rob more than aware we need a little more help. In the end we are here and members to enjoy the forum and as mods to help out when needed. the main thing for all to remember is the report button if you have issues or concerns. or to PM me or ken for more advice. In the end people need to try and not overreact to what people say. I am a light hearted person with a good sense of humor. But Even I know people can get the wrong end of the stick with my posts in the end. I think everyone as an opinion and are free to express this within reason. Some things should not be said as it could do harm to the member or the forum. and the reason for the few simple rules And even long term member seem to forget that we would like to see F*** or FCUK instead of the other word just to make sure peoples work Pc's allow them to post from work. Same goes with boobs and bits on a few threads are a no no. In the end it's not easy when a forum gets as active as we are now. Best to just grin and bare it or try to not get on the defensive I have asked many times for more support from the powers that be with no response Which is not good as I love this forum and the members.
So do I. It's the only forum I'm a member of and I LOVE it! Like a couple of others this forum kept me sane when I was recovering from injury. And the people I've met face to face from here are absolutely top notch. Excellent people.
I stand corrected, Giv! Thank you. A life without jellied eels and pie and mash...that's terrifying. Who'd want to live in a world like that?
Rem I seen you reach for the rubber hose for the upcomming beat down but then came the deep breath n a bit of counting, then the above response was typed!
