    Dont mind the odd guiness.... but in plus 30 degrees... no bloody way!

    And that German rocket fuel is far from piss i can assure you :)

    Fantastic - really enjoyed reading that

    Reminded me of my trip a year ago to that area - where I really wanted to do the Col D'Iseran from Bourg but I read the sign in Borg saying 'Ferme' so never went up to Val.

    Think I did the same route as you from Castellane to Barcelonette past the ski resort - there are some pics somewhere of that.

    Also amazed by what good weather you had just 2 / 3 weeks after me but that's how it goes I guess.

    Glad the train worked out - its a real time saver and like you say allowed you to do so much more than if you had to ride back from down south, but it was also good recovery after a hectic week.

    At least on your run to Castellane you did not have the road shut for 3 hours due to a landslide

    THis was my write up of similar route - not how much more you got in by taking train home.

    Get yourself over there col, you'll love it if you don't melt lol

    Al - yeah I saw that, but will have a re read ;) we had a snow slide in June at 30degrees lol prob all the snow you had melting.....

    great write up,thanks for posting :)
    the pass rather than the tunnel near mont blanc is what my mate and I do, its bloody great but you went on to the RN and south, am jealous!!
    thats our trip ina year or two me thinks

    and thanks for the greta tip of using the train to get back up!
    we will def use that when doing the RN or going to San Marino GP
