Rode out of Brighton with an 1198, have to admit at the lights, the engineering was pretty impressive, but I could help but think they only need to do that because they refuse to build a multi :) ..
Then off the roundabout getting onto the motoryway, I was amazing to find my Akro piped 10 plate blade had power on him! .. End of second I was closing on him easy and he was hard on the juice :) ...

He then rode off because unlike me, he was willing to weave in and out of cars at motorway speeds and undertake a couple of vans and an old lady who didn't know what she was doing .. tit ..

after 150 the dukes power drops right off but up to that they
should see off any thou with the torque they produce.
I could keep my friends 10 plate blade behind until 140 on my 848,
done it repeatably on private roads/ tracks.

After 150 its power drops off?

Well I was approaching the red line in second and was sailing up his arse, and he was flat out .. no doubt about it. He moved away as we came off the roundabout at lower speeds as expected, but as the revs climbed I was gaining on him fast and he was a lighter bloke than me too. Another gear and he would have been history.

Surely a MULTI is more than one, therefore a twin is a MULTI (then there is always the DESMOSEDICI which is a four).

It was a Panigale that got dusted in Wales last year -

Must have been me, Giv and Andy that blitzed him!

i got dusted by some geezer on a Triumph cruiser on my 2nd lever lap of the ring, he went straight on at the next corner. I also got totally dusted by two Kwakers on the same lap, a couple of corners later they were both wrecked after meeting a BMW car. So being dusted or the duster has very little meaning its just a snap shot in time.

Not sure about judging a bikes performance based on who was riding it especially on a one off occasion.

I pulled in to the side to let 3 guys overtake me last week, the reason being I was having a bit of a relax. They were on two nakeds and an R6. When someone wants a burn up I just let them burn up all on their own. Does not mean their bikes are faster or that they are better riders than me (although they might be) it just means I am not going to race on the road.

Actually, the word Multi comes from the latin Multus which means many. And in other uses and forms often means MORE than two. Such as Multilateral.
As in this case where it traditionally means more than three.

And as we are talking tradition. Traditionally being dusted means someone showing superior power or skill staying in control and arriving home safely.

And if you never ride hard with another bike coming off a roundabout onto open dual carriageway, then you have considerably more restraint than 99.9% of all performance bike riders I know.
And please note, I backed off when he started riding dangerously, which he only did because he was about to be overtaken by a Fireblade.

    End of. LOL

well he wasnt giving it beans then or it was a sick bike lol
the 1198 has near 20ft-lb's more torque than the blade and thats why its so quick off the mark.
If I rem right in a road test and dyno shootout the rc8 was the only thing that produced as much torque.

Struggling to beleive he was flat out and you were pissing all over him!?

Never riden a 1198 but I know they have tonnes of poke and pretty sure in the situation you described it'd pull a blades pants down.

Maybe he wasn't trying, or gets bored of blokes on jap bikes trying to "dust him"....

It's a bit like owning a Porsche and every bloke in a scooby thinking he is quicker than him lol and I actually never ride hard on a dual carriageway with another bike / stranger.... I have nothing to prove in straight line hero situations. Guess I'm 0.1%....

Where do I apply!? Ha ha ;)

    FFS ...

No body was trying to dust anyone. We just pulled hard of the roundabout and to my surprise I reeled him in.
And as for the 0.1% sorry.. don't believe you. Mainly down to the fact I don't think there's ever been an occasion when it DIDN'T happen LOL .. in 25 years of building riding and owning performance bikes from tuned Powervalves to ZX-10R's ..

And then I went on to ride my blade for another 200 miles that evening.

I suspect he had to pull in for a back transplant. But that's just a guess.

Are you for real?? Last night you said he was flat out and you were all over him? Now your saying you both just pulled hard...

The thread title is 1198 not all that mate - suggesting you spanked him. My point was yes he might have pulled hard, but I doubt he was flat out as you suggested as coming out of a corner, I'd bet a large sum of money the duke would blow the blade away! That's what they are all about, bottom end power, torque and huge acceleration. The 1198 has so much low down its hard to keep the front down apparently...

Couldn't care less if you beleive me or not, really wouldn't be interested in having a dick measure on a dual carriageway. Grew out of that a long time ago. If however you fancied having a play on the lanes or track where I (and that's my opinion) think you can see if someone can ride, I'd happily oblige....

Maybe sometime you can show me how fast out of Brighton you are.

    200 miles! Wow.

What I mean't was .. From having sat on one, yes just sat on one, I don't think the 1198 would be as comfortable for another 200 miles hence the back transplant.
And yes to the best of my knowledge he was flat out at the top of second, the same as me. Shouldn't have too much trouble keeping the front end down there.

Like you I prefer actual riding to a straight line blast. Yet I still don't know many who can or would resist the urge.

    Just that.

And my reality would surprise you.

Ok mate, you was there I wasn't... I'm sure he was in exactly the same gear as you and trying just as hard.

    Nice one

Can the mods please get involved and stop this nonsense, my boy reads this forum and all this talk of being in Brighton and pulling hard is simply unacceptable.

I just read it through mate and i can see your concerns, however, being a part time Blackpool Lad, i tend to find people who live in glass houses can't throw stones, if you get me ;)

we've all shook hands/agreed to disagree etc etc and made up, that's the main thing.

But for censorship reasons, and Dave V's young lad's bedtime story, talk about pulling hard out of anywhere stops Now! we just simply ease it in or out :)
