I will have that drink tonight. Once I have finished prepping the bike for my next meeting! It never ends! there is always something to do or tweak. But I have my goal of the Manx GP in 2015, so am going to pull out all the stops to get there.

I totally agree that racing is for the track and only the track but we all have a little play now and then! All i'm saying is if a 848 is quicker than a blade round the twisties and as the TT ect have a lot of twisties then surley you would see them being competative, and if not the 848 then the 1198 should be the one everyone would be riding!
But as said all thes bikes are faster than most people can handle anyway.

Yep, I agree, there is nothing wrong with going out for a hoon on the road and I am guilty as charged on that one. One reason that Ducatis are not in wider use for racing is due to the cost. A guy who races with us has an 848 which he races very succesfully, but it requires about 2 or 3 engine refreshes a year, as opposed to an annual one for the equivalent Jap bikes. That makes a huge difference to a race budget.

I agree totally with you on the cost, another win for the blade, but if some teams knew that with the extra costs they would win they would spend the money! I just don't think a 848 would lap faster around a twisty course like the TT than a Blade! I might be wrong but if they could I think they would.

As much as I love my 848 it's no match for a 1000 however it does regularly leave my mates on 1000s out the turns, take into account it's 135bhp at 70-76ft-lb so no surprise it's out matched in a straight line! If you want to see how competitive they can be check out the 848 challenge times! A super stock 1000 round brands GP pulls 1.29:0 and an 848 on the same day 1.31:1

I know what your thinking about the SS too, where are all the Honda's ;)

Back to the 1098 you should ride one if you've not as they make the blade feel like a moped, the 1198 is smoother but still a BEAST to ride!

No way the 848 would be competitive in the TT against the 1000s don't forget speeds in the TT are huge! BA I think still holds 207MPH on a practice lap on his GSXR and the big bikes up the mountain well! If you can't catch them by helicopter you stand little chance on an 848..lol

I agree but the 1198 can't seem to keep up either even though there are a lot of bends on the TT and these type of courses. As I said I had an Sp1 which had tons of grunt out of the corners and not to shabby a top end but I still think the blade is quicker in the real world, but as I stated I could be wrong. I'm sure the 848 is a great bike, it looks the part, but I still don't think it would beat a blade over a fair distance on the road or road track with equal riders.

Blade defo has a top end advantage over the 1198 IMO, however the 1198s advantage in the twistys should speak for its self, if you have a half sec out of each turn over time it's a fair advantage... question is are there enough straights to make up the time on the blade.. Id not like to look up total number of class wins for 08 plus blades v 1098/1198 well not here anyway ;) think the current and past track record / number of wins tells the story... I also think the blade is still king of the mountain ...for now anyway :) or at least with McPint on it, it is...

So you don't think maybe M.Dunlop might not take over from McPint then, on a Blade?
For the TT and up to 2007 Yamaha have won 130, Honda 130, Norton 43, Suzuki 40, MV 34 and Ducati 8.

For sure. But I'm not supporting him unless he rides a Honda. I had a Suzuki once, I left it out in the rain. When I came back it was gone. Like fucking Alka Selza.
I NEARLY bought a Kwaka 10R this time round, although the cockpit looked good, it was bloody uncomfy but it was SO CHEAP ... there had to a be a reason the Honda was holding its value. Even the RC8 was cheap as chips too .. but it also looked like a fucking robot.

He does ride a Honda, and pretty quick as well. I nearly bought a Suzuki once, a 750, but the finnish was poor, the RC8 just seemed big, test rode an MV but that was bloody hard work so got the blade and had it sprayed, perfect!! For me anyway.

too right, the power to weight ratio along with the V surprises big bikes all the time, if you actually look it up it has more
power per kg than a bade , sp1 and most other thou's just doesnt have the top end poke to maintain it lol.

Not one had an issue, even the old 888 race bike.
The 916 was surprisingly quick but then the rider
Was an ex road racer so he didn't hang around lol
