Hello guys, thought id share afew pics with you guys after a hoon with me my mate on a RSV4.

Both headed to a tuning garage which my mate knows i booked my blade in for a custom map with a PCV and new BMC filter which is tomorrow.
RSV4 lad booked his in for a dyno run to see the HP after having a race ECU which will be fitted again tomorrow.

We both thought we may as well see what were both pushing before our custom remaps. Heres the print out.

Both stock mapping, and both with a end can exhaust. I was very surprised how smooth and how much more mid-range the blade has. Nearly 10 hp increase throughout the rev range!

Instrested to see the differences once both custom mapped.

    Heres some more pics

    Interesting read mate thanks.

Awesome how smooth the blade is. What can you mate got on the rsv?

How you think they compare against each other on the road? Have you ridden his?

I know Mels fella has one, she said it isn't as quick as her blade and he says it handles better than the blade.

It won best handling sportbike a few years back, I've heard its an absolute animal when ridden hard so I'm intrigued to say the least.. They sound and look lovely, do sometimes miss the corner exit grunt of a twin, but would I miss the silky smooth power and precision handling of the fireblade? I think I would. The blade for me is the perfect bike so far, I've ridden all the top litre sportbikes aside from the zx10r (which I'd love to have a go on!!). The S1000rr felt like it belonged on track a lot more than the road, but I only pottered round the block on it so bad example really. The aprilia I have also not ridden, sat on plenty but never had a go. Had a go on a mate's big bang R1 and they are very nice, just didn't feel as refined as the blade, I get the feeling if I ever changed to a different litre bike I would only revert to what I love and know the most- the Honda Fireblade. :)

Nice account of the day Andy, some cracking pics of your stunning bike being used in anger ;)

I was looking at an RSV4 in the showroom at BPL Honda while waiting to collect mine from service yesterday. Must admit they got some nice goodies on them.

Not sure who said that, although I would have said without knowing the curves were the other way round!!

V4's are usually smooth no? Know the rsv4 isn't huge on numbers but doesn't hang around in the real world (much like the blade).... But I'd put good money on the fact the can is running it a little lumpy? Against the heavily r&d'd yoshi on the blade....

Yeah id probly agree with you jimbo. I just know how to ride the blade better so it would be more of a weapon on track.

It's not worth swapping the the Aprilia unless it's the 'Factory' version!

This, without a doubt, will outgun a Blade all day long.............................for now!

Expect big things from Honda in 2014! :D

Sorry this is a bit late, I've been a bit busy the past few weeks. I got my custom map done. I gained a total of 2.5 HP but the bike does feel smoother which can be felt at slow constant speeds i.e 30 mph. Power delivery feels smoother too no flat spots anywhere and hard to explain but feels more predictable. I've noticed that from the odd wheelie here and there lol i feel in more control. Not that i ever wasnt.

    Enjoy

Yeah the torque is 82.9 ft-lb I was confused as to why it was lower than the initial chart which i had done few weeks before. He said it was to do with the calibration. As it was a quick run it was first done using the wheel speed. Custom mapping obviously were done using ecu as it was all plugged up. Therefore different readings. I probably was running less than 171 ponies before.

Here is my friends RSV4 dyno chart readout after his mapping with the Bazzaz FI box. He did buy a Race ECU prior to the bazzaz which, made the electrionics more refined, but also made the mixture more richer and therefore lost 3hp, which then at the time had 167hp at the back wheel.

    Some might say it's...

Now custom mapped for the bike it is putting down 177.5hp and 83ft-lb of torque

That's good hp, the equivalent of around 195bhp at the flywheel. That's a lot of hp gained from just a PCV, air filter and end can.
