Hey guys! Thought i'd introduce myself as im new here and likely to be asking questions as im a noob when it comes to biking! Passed my DAS mod 2 in August, been riding my Honda XR 125 since July [my firstbike] and continued to ride it after my test, though its not as fun as my instructors Fazer 600, until i found a big bike i liked. Well i just did and to be honest once i got on it i was hooked....its a 2007 CBR 1000rr Fireblade in HRC colours! [Hence my user name, lol] - not the 1st bike i would have considered as i was dead set on getting a Hayabusa [did my bike test with sole intention of getting one] but once i went for a test ride, i didn't want to give it back! Was supposed to go for a 30-45min test ride, ended up going away for 2 hours!....luckily it was a mate, so he didnt mind too much Picking it up on Wednesday so counting down the minutes literally until i do!
Welcome, nice bike the RR7, sure you'll have plenty of fun on it...... take it easy to learn the bike and the fly safe!
Hello and welcome Congrats on passing your test, like the others said take your time that's a big jump from a 125
Hi I would echo all these comments - huge jump from a 125 (or Fazer) to a blade....a flick of the wrist and you are dead so take care
Hi n welcome dude yeah the RR7 is a nice stepping stone for the Busa! Take care out there, when youve passed your test is when you learn properly.
Thanks for the warm welcome folks Yes I will be careful [got my family to think of]....but the test ride was immense!.....everyone was telling me not to get a Busa due to lack of experience and it being a big and heavy bike....but i was hell bent on getting one as it was the bike i always wanted and insurance was reasonable, looked into 2 bikes, K2 & K4, but both fell through for various reasons. As time passed from passing my test to now [1 really long month i tell you considering both my friends bought bikes before they sat the test and jumped straight on once they did! We all passed at the same time, so it was killing me that i wasnt't on a bike riding with them and it hardly practical trying to keep up with them on a XR 124 when they have a ZX6R and CBR 600F] I then started looking at other bikes, 600cc onwards....have looked at CBR 600 F, SV650, R1, Honda Blackbirds....just anything in my area tbh....but nothing sort of agreed with me. This bike is actually my instructors sons bike! Its been at the training center since i started, his son lives in Glasgow and works offshore, so never gets used unless his dad takes it out for a spin once in a while but my instructors has his own baby, GSXR 1000 K5.....so it was for sale, as his son was focusing on getting a newer track bike...so wanted to sell this and his older track bike and get a newer bike just for racing. So i made a offer and it was accepted....I think i got a good deal...as i paid 1000-2500 LESS depending on the ads i looked at....from the current bikes on the market that were 2007 RR in HRC paint scheme plus this one has a full Yoshimura race system, Power Commander, its has been on the dyno to set it up.....renthal sprocket [if that makes sense?] for better gearing and acceleration? Only 8800 miles on the clock, 2 previous owners....mot till next yeay [delay in getting it is due to MOT otherwise it would be on my drive now ] and Tax till February 2014, R&G crash bungs [not to familliar if these are just installed on the body? as its got bungs on the front and rear tyres too?], Stomp Grip [i think thats what its called] on the tank, may have a few others things....i will ask my instructor to tell his son to email the full spec to me as im clueless when it comes to MODs on bikes. Thats about it, any questions then fire away
You'll get used the lingo mate and what's what with mods! just you enjoy that lovely bike of yours and the rest will come naturally any jump up from a 125 is much the same your in control and the Blade has no nasty traits, very user friendly and easy to ride fast
Thanks Spud, can't compare it to anything else as this is my 1st big bike but the test ride was a proper guy opener, didn't even push it and in 2nd gear I was close to 100mph (sent to the country straight to do this) yet with my XR I had to crank all the gears and is only hit 50mph...60mph if the weather was great!! Lol Can't wait to get it and hopefully the weather is good, currently we have a MET storm warning :-(, and explore the bike a bit more Thanks mate, was scared sh1tless about 1000cc bikes...don't know why, maybe because it was something I never experienced and also sports bikes have a more radical riding position, so maybe that's what put me off BUT once I got on and gave it 15-30min it felt natural....very smooth bike to ride, and acceleration is crazy. Love the colour of your bike Trev, I have seen after market fairing kits for my blade in those colour...what do you think of them? Are they hard to fit? I see they are America or China based, so tax has to be paid on import I'm thinking? Any recommendation for a light smoked screen lads? Looking to get a double bubble screen to stop wind, test ride I found I had to tuck down on open straights due to wind.
Welcome to the site mate and a good choice if bike, Suzuki's arent my cup of tea so good choice. As others said take ur time, learn how the bike rides / reacts to the road / ur input n most of all enjoy Good site this to, i dont physically log on much but always read the posts n theres alot of very knowledgeable people on here who wud make loads of dosh if they had their own bike garages

I see they are America or China based, so tax has to be paid on import I'm thinking? Hi Mo, Thanks mate! I've only ever read good things about aftermarket fairing kits they are made from ABS same as OE kits fitting can be a bit tricky so you maybe need some help from a pro! Some guys buy them for track use and keep the originals for when it comes to sell the bike also they are a hell of a lot cheaper to replace than Honda panels if you damage them
Will probably be something i do next year or over winter if i can...2 have caught my eye HRC new Redbull
