When viewed in slow-mo you can see edwards taking evasive action but had no chance of avoiding contact, i bet he and rossi are feeling pretty bad right now

I reckon thats Edwards done and dusted as he only had 1 race to go anyway and poor old Rossi will be be having second thoughts as well, losing a friend in such a way. It was the Ducatis front wheel that took the helmet off judging by the vid, bloody awful.

    RIP Marco

Very tragic news and my heart goes out to all the people that were close to Marco.

From what I saw of him in racing he was an amazing talent with a bright future and a lively fun character which was refreshing to see.

A sad sad loss for motorcycle racing and my thoughts are with his family and close friends.

Colin and Rossi had no chance IMO and are completely blame free in the incident although I m sure they feel pretty bad right now it was a strange crash as rather than sliding away to the kitty litter as you would expect for some reason Marco and the bike came back into the racing line.

Nothing they could do about that, even if they'd both jumped off the bikes before impact theyd of still carried on the same line as everybody is upping gears coming off the 3rd gear corner, bless them :(

Rossi must feel...... Well, I'm sure you must know.

What a horrendous thing to happen so late in to the season.

The stillness of Marco's body sliding down the tarmac after the head impact made me feel sick. RIP Marco

Feel sick and stunned at what has happened, i can't even begin to think how bad Colin and Valentino must feel being involved with this tragic accident. My thoughts are with Marco's family and friends. R.I.P Marco you are a great loss to the sport and so many people. :-(

Agreed , The crash was horrible and did put my throat in my stomach . You don't aspect tragedies like this at the highest level of the sport. A good lesson to all that accidents can happen regardless

Great loss. Almost two, if anyone noticed how hard Edwards smashed his face off the front of Simo's bike. Wouldnt be surprised if Rossi retires after the poop year he's had. Sad loss, danger of the sport etc etc. RIP!

So Sad! Not many people would know but its not that hard to pull a crash helmet off from the rear to the front with the chin strap done up! I still find it hard to understand in all of the tech the one thing that has never changed with helmets is the way the fasten up! When the marshal walked away with the helmet it seemed clear that the strap was done up and had pulled free from the lid from the rivet that hold the stap in place!

Such a tragic loss, my heart goes out to all of those involved. My ride today was somewhat slower than usual, a reminder to me that if talented riders like Marco Simoncelli can make errors then I am exceptionally vulnerable. RIP Marco.

I genuinely wonder if Marco's hair did in any way make it easier for the helmet to come off? Not a snide question, I'm truly gutted about his untimely death.
