Didn't see this coming! He had been rossi's main man during all his titles! http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/s...3/November2/nov713-rossi-splits-with-burgess/
isnt JB Mrs seriously ill or summat?? Maybe wants to stay at home n look after her instead of trying to keep Rossi's legendry status afloat?? ( just a thought )
I think Rossi is right to part company with Burgess .I would imagine they have used all their experience and connections and its still not enough and it's the old " Past the sell buy date" situation .
Or is JB taking the stick for Rossi 2 crap yrs at Ducati n his current form, mixing it with 4/5 places aint really good for the g.o.a.t ??
Think he still has a contract with Yamaha so see where he goes, and yes he missed a few rounds in the past due to his mrs health, rossi's choice for a change tho!
The article does read quite a bit like Rossi is tryin to blaim jerry for his short comings of late! If his 2014 championship is a bust Rossi will be pretty red faced and eatin pie! Pretty sure your right about JB's family issues and he actually said he wanted to retire when they all left Ducati when he hit his 60's but Rossi talking him into staying! .....just heard Apollo Cree saying summit about a tigers eye being missing or something!
That does surprise me, especially the way Rossi has worded it. I do not think there is anyone in racing who can work miracles and put Rossi back as number one. As I have said before, I am a huge Rossi fan but his day has passed. Would love to be wrong of course, but MM is something else and LR is pretty good too and the young uns are coming along thick and fast. Rossi might be better better off focussing on running his team, I would hate to see him end racing by hurting himself chasing the past.
Rossi and Burgess........ yes they may have had their glory years and can look back at dominating the sport........ Rossi is being outclassed by the young guns and although I expect a few more podium finishes........ a championship win ? I cant see it somehow...... but he can leave as a true champ next yr when his contract runs out....
Rossi has been my idol in racing for as long as I can remember.... But if he said that in that context. Just lost a huge amount of respect for him! JB has been the mastermind and stuck with him through some tough racing and personal times (his wife's illness). To disregard him like that in a press conference IMO is just plain wrong. Poor show VR46 Need to watch interview though.... As not always how it comes across in the press!
Agree with you Jimbo......... it could be all press talk......... but if he's not careful he ll look like a punch drunk ex champ......who looks desperate for his next win !
Yup! And you don't bite the hand that has fed you so long! Bit like boxers sacking trainers when they get knocked out! Should look in the mirror and admit the other guy spanked you... Hope it's press talk. If it's not and Rossi 'sacked him' should have done it in private and announced officially JB has retired. Everyone wins. Only person who will lose from this is Rossi. Perhaps moily can ask him the truth
Winning machines prepared by Burgess range from the Suzukis of Randy Mamola to the Hondas of Ron Haslam, Freddie Spencer, Wayne Gardner, Mick Doohan and to the Yamaha of Valentino Rossi. Since July 1980, these riders have won 157 GP/MotoGP races (as at 2 November 2009) and a total of fourteen World Championships on motorcycles that "JB" has either prepared himself or whose preparation he has overseen as crew chief. Burgess's machinery have achieved over 280 podium finishes. Is there anything more to say..........??
Vale has made a decision and next season will prove if its the right one. He has never been afraid of making decisions, and I for one hope it works for him Maybe he won't be able to match Mark Marquez and Lorenzo, but personally I don't care Valentino has been a true icon of Moto GP and it will be the saddest day when he decides to hang up his leathers Personally sick to death of people saying he's past it! Usually by people who have not got even 10% of that guys talent Not heard much noise coming from other riders saying he should retire have we.
Where did the 10% of his skills come into it ? I ve watched gp racing from the Sheene vs Roberts era.... And was disappointed to see my then track champions being outclassed by new younger blood hungry boys..... It's the obvious progression.... Finished ? yes he still has the capacity to win races I'm sure..... But not sure on another championship but let's see it's Burgess who has played a large part in the bike development and it's sad it's come to a end....
i'm not disputing that it might not be the right thing to do. he obviously needs to try something and a fresh approach and even a bit of confidence boost might just make him a little more competitive (although i think MM and JL are a step ahead now ) the only thing i think is wrong is the lack of respect and class VR46 has shown over the way it has "apparently" been handled. the guy is a great sportsman and always gracious in defeat, but i think has handled the split wrong.
Oh dear Vale what have you done? I have a feeling he is going to live to regret that decision. I hope that JB enjoys his retirement he has damn sure earned it but I think if that wording is true then it's a bit discourteous and would have better been announced in the off season when it was all over. Poor old JB.
Agree that Rossi is an absolute legend but don't see him winning a moto GP champion again. He is the best of the rest and even that is optimistic. How many times has be been outgunned by Cal this season. I'm. It knocking him I just think he has had his time. Better to bow out with his reputation intact than maybe fall even further behind the rest next season.
