Absolutely gutted to see my bike looking like this now, as she always been so mint. Bloody councils are a joke these days, you pay your road tax and council tax only to find that they just leave loose gravel down which throws you off your bike.

Tell you what though, my knees aren't half sore. Got big hole in my left boot and leathers ruined, all from a 5/10mph low side. Bike slid for about 10 metres, lol.

    Thanks Gary

In fact, I'm gonna look at the positive side and use it as an excuse to do some bits I wanted to do to her anyway. Looking for some black adjustable rear sets and some black short levers. The bar end weights are R & G ones. Only thing I can't seem to find is the tail fairing and right faring in winning red. There's a belly pan on ebay that I'm watching so almost there.

That's a shame dude and it looks a well kept bike .If the pegs and the engine covers and the like have not been touched you may have done ok in which is still a terrible situation .

Claim on your house insurance for your boots, leathers, gloves

Try part finder. Other option could be full set from China but quality not the same.

Looking at the bike, I think it came off quite well. I've had a closer inspection and none of the casings are damaged. The right peg needs replacing as well but it's pretty much all cosmetic.

I never thought about that, how does that work then? Would they actually cover them?

I want to avoid the chinese kits, had a set on my r1 and the fit and quality was shocking.

Can ya not go back n take fotos and forward them onto the council, they have a duty of care when using the highways, and sounds like the gravel was the cause of your accident??!! Maybe get sum dish back to assist in ur repair?? Worth a try no??

Firstly sorry to hear about your accident but glad you are ok and the bike seems to of got off relatively lightly

Unfortunately the way the council work with claims like this, oil, pot holes etc is that the have a responsibility to repair or remove such things once they are reported, if this is the first they have heard of it they have done nothing wrong but then do have a certain amount of time to fix it once you let them know

Sorry to hear the bad news but good luck with the repairs, I am sure it will be as good as new when it’s done.

Ouchy. Tyre looks like it won't have any chicken strips down that side though ;)

Un-fooking-believable. They put down a dodgy road surface and don't have to do anything until someone reports it. As much as I hate them I would be tempted to go to a no claim-no blame bunch. It's about time a Council got done for the amount of gravel they are putting down these days.

    Good luck.

I sued the council a few years ago under similar circumstances however i actually got them on not correctly marking the road repair. They had loose chipped the surface and no warning signs were present. It took 2 years until they finally admitted it.
