After my touring thread I thought it might be a great idea to get some recommendations on roads and areas you lot think are worth a visit.

I can recommend Elan vally in mid wales by Rhayder.

Also a stunning road I know well between Chestow, Uks and abergavenny

A339 Basingstoke to Alton is an obvious one up here but personally i think the B4498 from Newbury to Wantage is much better and then you get the Cotswolds to play with after that with its little bridges over the streams to jump

Guess you mean Chepstow, Usk & Abergavenny.
I have been on the b roads around that way a few times agree really nice roads and not to much traffic when I went there.

A479 in the Brecons was good lots of shell grip corners.

Loads of amazing roads in west wales. 3 known unmarked police bikes thou.

    a black Honda Blackbird

    a blue Yamaha R1

I Forget the other but im sure it is a white bmw tourer

They follow you with onboard video cameras then pull you over and your licence is as good as gone

Wirksworth to Duffield, parallel to A6 and you get less attention.

From Winster head North, pick up A619 from Chesterfield to Baslow. At Baslow take A623 to Chapel en le Frith, this joins A6 just before Chapel, but come off into Chapel and take right to Hayfield and Glossop along A624. Go past Hayfield and at Glossop take A57 to Sheffield. This takes you over Snake Pass which has some plod about, but some things need to be done! On outskirts of Sheffield pick up A61 back to Chesterfield. About 100 miles.

BARDNEY/Lincolnshire Wolds to Willingham Woods and Cadwell Park. Superb roads.

But my favourites are all in North Wales, Horshoe Pass, A5 onwards through Snowdonia.

Got this guide. Looks like the M25 is recommended? one of the routes in my area has A52 and A46 both of which have average speed camera's on the route described.

Yeah looking at the routes they are pretty short and the maps are to small to really plan a trip on, good to have layout pics and locations of all the UK tracks thou

Usually just recommend fast A roads. I prefer B roads, better for your license!!!

For my money. it's hard to beat the A396 between Tiverton and Dunster. It's right on my doorstep for a start. runs through the bottom of the valleys going up into Exmoor with more twists than a fart in tight pants. The best of it is that it's virtually unused except for bloody Pheasants, which can get a bit hairy. I ran up it back in the spring one Sunday morning and detoured across to Tarr Steps, about a 17 mile dogleg, crap weather, foggy and slippery, but... and here's the thing... I didn't come across another vehicle going in my direction. Not one! Cross my heart.

Remal. It's just down the road from you. Have a go, see what you think. The only downside is that if you should get caravanned, you need to get a bit Banzai to get around them.
