Hi I changed the seals and fork oil, put the forks back together and on the bike and now the front rebound on the left side has 4 turns but the right side is only 3. is this going to be a problem or anyone know what this is ?
I've set them both 1 turn back in from full, but I wanted to know why one has 4 full turns and the other only has 3, could there be a problem with the rebound rod ?
It's the only thing that comes to mind that one cap is screwed on more than other causing one adjuster to bottom out before the other.
14 is the the rebound cap assembly 26 is the plastic bit you compressed with the spring to show the lock nut. Edit.....Remember this is not the forks that's on the blade, it was first pic that I found that I could use to ref the nut I was on bout.
Tbh mate I would be trying to find out why there is a difference in the amount of adjuster turns, my guess is one leg has the rod pushed further down (caps screwed on different amount before being locked) effectively closing the rebound flow by one extra turn. This extra turn could cause the bike to react slightly by pulling the bike to one side as the suspension works going over bumps and different surfaces, as one leg is reacting faster than the other.
I have had this issue on other bikes after overhauling the forks. As I understand, it doesn't matter how many turns each adjuster comes our before stopping; just make sure they are both the same number of turns out. It varies depending on how far nut 7 is screwed onto 8. I measure they thread length showing & make sure both are the same. May be wrong of course as I haven't stripped the newer Blade forks yet.
Sticking my neck out......as the top spec Ohlins only have rebound in one leg and compression in the other the imbalance should not cause an issue, the damping should 'equalise' between the legs. But I do agree you should find out why there is difference...
Could someone have a quick check for me on their blades to see how many full turns the front top rebound is, so that I know which fork to take apart. Should it be 3 or 4 full turns ? Thanks
Your owner manual wouldn't give you a hint would it? Default setting may be more than three turns? I would, but I have a '12.
No worries Rented, the owners manual doesn't mention how many total turns it should be, only what the factory string from full soft is. I opened up the fork and checked the distance of the nut on the piston rod and it was about 1mm out, changed it and put it all together, now I have 3 turns on both sides. A tough lesson learnt.
