I noticed on my blade it really bangs when selecting first gear. I've owned quite a few bikes over the years and know its normal for them to clonk a bit when selecting first gear from neutral, but my blade is so harsh and loud it feels like the sprocket is going to snap! Is this normal for the blade?

The chain isn't slack or excessively worn, the engine oil used is 10w30, and its been serviced at regular intervals. Its a 2008 model and it has covered 10k miles. The clutch does bite fairly high tho.

If yours is the same ill stop worrying, but if there is anything wrong ill take it bake to the main-dealer as i still have warranty on it

    thanks

Another cause can be the chain being too tight rather than slack.

I was going to sell it because i use my bikes all year round and I was going to get a dorsoduro as thats a better all year round bike. I first thought the blade wasn't really a winter bike. I just cant sell it though, i love it too much

A blade is for ever... Not just for xmas...

    - That probably works better down under where it's warm at this time of year :)

Not getting the 'not a winter bike' bit matey, has 2 wheels, an engine and stops and starts in all weathers, looks much the same to any other bike in the winter to me tbh. ;)

It was the ridding position that put me off at the start. This is the first sports bike I've owned. It took me a while to get used to the ridding position. I was too hasty and put it up for sale. I never gave it a chance because the weather was so bad I never rode it long enough.

Ive had it for over a month and have managed to spend a lot if time on it. Im so glad I didn't sell it!

I find pulling the clutch in twice does help with the clunk. Boo

I've tried that on mine... Made no diff... But it's not much more than my 600RR was anyway, and no worse than any other bike I pull up next to while commuting...

Yeah but rains like the good Lord has been on the piss. 4 days non stop now! I'm in Darwin and the next nearest capital is probably 3,000KM away, so YMMV :)
