Gutted for you mate, sorry I didn't manage to actually find the fault. I'm with Craig In that I the looms been repaired to a high standard it will be fine, although I didn't personally check it as we ticked it off as parketts had. Fingers crossed the tilt sensor comes up trumps, crank position sensor's the other thing to check.
Jase, I once had a similar problem on a VFR800 which turned out to be the crank position sensor, I spotted a tiny amount of scorching inside the dust cover that shields the connector block which had been caused by the arcing every time the sensor dropped out. Have a very close look at all essential connections, you just might spot something that doesn't look right. Hope you find it soon.
All be it on a car battery I had a fault that drove us mad for weeks. The battery post was snapped, inside the battery so you cant see it and most of the time it's connected fine, We eventually found it by working the post and it must have sparked inside the battery ,,,, the bloody thing exploded covering three of us in acid! Probably not this but Good Luck. Mike.
Well a update goodnews kind of. Bike is road legal now so put new tilt sensor on today and did 45 miles without problems high revs similar to been on track up and down the m56 .So is it sorted not 100% as I returned to my unit I thought I would put the old tilt sensor back on I positioned it differently this time as I did the new one so I had easy access to it without having to remove the fairings ,took it for a 20 mile ride and no faults I was really hoping it would cut out so I could be 100% sure it was the tilt sensor so all I can do now is do as many miles on the bike and hope it was the tilt sensor .
You know what Col I really have no idea it could be this it could be that I am 75% it was the tilt sensor as all this started when I had the loom problem it burned the ecu so i am guessing it also damaged the tilt sensor as one of the wires that was damaged was one of the wires that connected to the tilt sensor ,ask me in 500 miles without a problem and I will be sure but I know regardless of how many road miles I do I know come my first trackday/race I will just be waiting for it to cut out.
Has the tilt switch been moved away from its OEM location? Also jase what was all the colours of the damaged wires?
Hi Craig the damaged wire that went in to the plug from the headlight loom(there is 3) that the the tilt sensor then plugged in to was red/blue .i have always had the tilt sensor positioned near where the horn would go all I did yesterday was move it down slightly and back so I could swop the sensors without having to remove nose cone .
put the old tilt sensor in it's original spot and try it again.you need to be sure,no point cutting corners for the sake of 10 mins removing the fairing

Scooby you reckon I would need to remove engine to fit new loom as the bit that goes down the left hand side of the frame that's in the plastic sleeve seems very tight against frame and engine also you want to fit Have you ever thought of just trying another tilt switch or has this been mentioned already,Algiers setting in ehh ! This was my post earlier jade and I am 100% sure this will be your problem bud
Well done 100miles now and still seems ok I am now 80% that it was the tilt sensor .The slip roads on to the motorways are now my pit lane and I am giving it plenty of revs 1st,2nd gear,3rd gear . Up and down the motorway Scooby not put the old one back on again as I am pretty sure it's this plan to do a lot more miles on it and have just booked Cadwell on the 14th April .Yes it would of been nice to get the fault putting the old one back on but I don't think it would be that easy it's been such a hassle and so hit and miss when it would fault I could put it back in its original spot and it then not fault I will do at least another few hundred miles before Cadwell so fingers crossed.
well dont come crying to me at oulton when it conks out again (hope it's sorted, lecky problems are by far the worse thing to go wrong as you cant see it)
Believe me I keep looking at my s1000 thinking that would make a very nice trackbike and if this blade gives me anymore problems then the bmw road days are over .
Ok Jimbo, fess up what did u do to your teammates bike in order to get a few extra points head start in the championship???
Now there's a thought mmmmmmmmmmm it happened at Snetterton on our track day when Jimbo and Dave v and navvy was there then again on test day when yep you guessed it Jimbo was there then again on the Saturday when Dave v and Jimbo was there. Come on lads own up . What did you do
