Hi I am new to this, so please be gentle .
I have a small problem, I have just done the tappets on my blade and now I can't get the valve cover on.
I admit I had to fight it to get it off but as I managed it I thought what comes off must go back on.
I have made sure that the camshaft pickup was not pointing up to give me more room and
I tried going in from the front and rear but it just will not fit.
I was even trying without the gasket as a dry run.
Has anyone else had the same problem and how did you get around it.
    Hope you can help
    Knotteee.

    Ok getting desperate now.
Still can't get it to fit so I'm thinking drop the engine a little. So I've removed the 4 front bolts but need a special tool for the rear ones. Will let you know how a get on. :-/

I have done hundreds of these, never had to drop the motor? Not saying there is not a first time, I always remove the rad etc and the cover should roll forwards and come off, shame. Honda did not give the 1-2mm required to take it out the top? Still I have never managed to get one out the top, and I try each time lol

I am surprised that you can't get it on, if your nearby (not looked at your location) I'd give it a go for the hell of it.

Thanks for the advice I had not removed the reed covers as I was trying to do it by the book and Mr Haynes hadn't told me to. I will try this next as it would be much better then my idea of moving the engine. Are there any gaskets underneath which I must replace?
Thanks again and will keep you posted.

No sorry the Radiator not the reed covers, nope don't ever remove them unless I am making covers to blank them off, the bolts are lock tight I place on the reed cover and are always hard to remove, so much so you risk shearing them off! Makes me wonder why yours is tight? Maybe frame has closed in some how? you know history of bike, do you have other fixings out! crash bung fixings? odd how you can't get it back in?

That's a shame. Have dropped the rad already and couldn't get it on that way either. I've had the bike from new. Only had one very minor off. Crash bung on the left was tight to get out which surprised me. Hope i didn't do any damage to the frame. Can't see it as was such a low speed drop.

Doubt it but interesting you have problems...I'd say impossible to flex the frame that high, at the bungs, maybe...

Cup of tea and another cool attempt mate, they defo fit!

The problem always seems to be at the cam chain side. Not the clearance to hook the cover over the guard.
    Well must not go on.
    Have another go another day.
    Thanks.

Only advice is to try to roll the cover over rather than slide it in, if you get me, good luck.

May be worth attempting a photo of where it's catching.
