Have a 2013 Blade, fitted with a power commander v that has been mapped by Crescent. Have done a few trackdays, most recent last week at Aragon, noticed that the dash light for the ecu(engine symbol) was coming on after a little while but with no problems etc. is this a normal "issue" with the power commander. Bike went really well and the track was simply amazing .
Have you checked the fault code output to see what the ECU was having the issue with? Does the bike still have the OEM lamba probe connected or is there a O2 eliminator fitted? No the power commander should not give any issues with the engine management light comin on! But remember the engine management light can come on for a number of faults and it might just be coincidence the light started comin on after the power commander was fitted but the reason for the light is unrelated!
The honda dealer fitted it b4 it left the showroom and there is no code showing as far as I can c ! It has had the 02 eliminator kit fitted . Bike still runs sweet as though . I did phone the dealer up and he said it was simply the ecu not talking properly to the power commander so it then says "problem " in its ecu brain
There must be something else wrong with the bike. The ECU and power commander do not talk to each other. The power commander sits in series with the injector wiring, the original signal from the ECU that would have gone to the injectors goes in to the power commander instead, it then adjusts this signal according to the map within it and then sends the new signal to the injector thus altering the amount of fuel that the injector passes. take the bike back and get them to look at it properly.
Jamie have you noticed any big differences after having the pc fitted and im talking about performance??? Cheers...
Yes after getting custom map the bottom end is much stronger it's not light and day but I can notice it
Hmmmm that's quite a feat that, diagnosis over the phone about a fault that can only be identified once the ECU fault memory has been read either by a Honda diagnostic compatible computer or by manually jumping/bridging the correct diagnostic wires and read the code using the dash cluster lights. Everything else up until the fault memory is read, the reason for engine managment light coming on are only speculative things that may be wrong but you could just be pissin into the wind and throwing cash away on new bits unless proper diagnostic procedures are followed to lead to correct diagnosis and then correct fix for situation!
Would the fact that I have fitted an hm quickshifter do anything to the ecu? I had it fitted preciously to my gsxr1000 and above certain revs it would throw up a f1 code....once I took it off the code would not show. Who knows it's all rocket science to me. On a side note I rode the first session at Aragon last week on standard rode settings out of the showroom, had the suspension witch doctor that No limits had dragged down, do his thing to the bouncy bits at the front and back ,was the best 60 quid I have ever spent. Bike handled like it was on rails , amazing bit of kit. One seriously impressed Blade ownerIf you have that burning feeling in your pocket then go and get your suspension set up, especially if you are going to do a track day.f
No a quickshifter should not interfere with the ECU in any way! The Suzuki's can throw an Fi fault with regards to the quickshifter if the spark cut duration/gap is too large in the shifter settings, if the gap is too large the ECU will register the shifter cutting the spark as a problem with the coils not sparking and fling the error so the cause of the misfire can be found!
Cheers for that , will book it in for the dealer to see if they can find anything wrong. Would any fault codes be logged in the bikes system????? It's still under warranty and I hope they don't fob me off with the quickshifter or Pcv causing the issue then .
Yeah, the fault codes are registered when the engine management light is on, that's its job to tell you there is an issue that's been registered which needs investigating. Thee dealer should be able to hook the bike up to their diagnostic system an read what fault codes have been logged by the bike.
