Hi guys, I knew my rant would divide opinions my apologies if I have offended anyone but the camera doesn't lie! The brothers may have played it down now but MD was deadly serious and W was totally gutted you could see it in his face he didn't know what to say or do! It was a real shame! And yes Mike I am normally a mellow fellow but I fcukin hate bullies and only wish W had stuck one on the twat on national TV! but when they interviewed MD and he said his brother should show more respect! That was it for me! I know the racers can get caught up in the moment but there too much with him for that excuse! I'll have to control myself at Knockhill this year with my paddock pass I'll find it difficult not to wind the fud up for my own amusement you understand!
I have to add. Although I've recorded the NW200 coverage, I haven't caught up with as yet. I have not seen or heard what passed between the brothers Dunlop and my opinion of Michael does not come from this altercation, banter or otherwise. It's come from years of watching him, emotional and magnanimous in victory, but reactionary, vicious and petulant in defeat. Even William stated at last years TT that he's given the silent treatment if he beats his brother. His brother, for chris'sake, he even begrudges his brother victory. Wrap it up in flair, temperament, will to triumph at all costs, whatever you want, but it turns me, personally, off the bloke. I doubt he'd give a flying f**k that it does and I doubt he'd lose sleep over it! but then, neither shall I.
I have not seen the interview, so have no first hand knowledge of what was said or of the way it was said. It sounds like MD was out of order. I would imagine that following such an adrenaline experience as racing in the NW200 many people react in some fairly strange ways. Adrenaline is a powerful hormone and testosterone, as some of us know oozes out of some people in an aggressive manner ( something I am guilty of on occasions) or he could just be a total tw*t. Back in my firefighting days there was often 'trouble' after adrenaline inducing jobs and for some people, the mouth becomes completely detached from the brain. I do think though that there is a good chance he will take some stopping at the TT this year, if I was a betting man, which I am not I would be putting some dosh on him for the Seniors.
I must admit when I heard Michael talk down to William in that threatening Irish tone I thought I was watching one of those Gypsy programs
Just watched it. there's no way he meant that in jest, he was angry and arrogant, just like he always is. To do that to his own brother was despicable, sour grapes at the extreme. He is not the kind of guy to be gracious in defeat, and not to offer sincere congratulations to William, as well as threatening him, is pond life. He was out ridden, out skilled and outclassed. A horrible little scroat. And he looks like a fat potato.
What a nice Guy William seems to be. Michael wouldn't last 2 Hrs in our local Pubs with an attitude like that before he lost most of his front Teeth!
Fair point Si, but you are closer to the Liverpool Lads who are not quite as tolerant as us Cheshire Lads!
He comes across as a spoilt little bully who needs to be knocked down a peg or two, sadly there doesn't seem to be anyone in that click that looks as if they could stand up to him....
Anyone thats ever met the fella would know its all play for the cameras, wee jokes with an edge on them but I can see what it looks like. He doesnt hold back his thoughts and after that many miles on a superbike in those conditions he will hardly be all smiles to lose! Sure he should have congratulated him but is all that really worth a 4 page slagging match? LOL. Let actions do the talking instead of words........ When has MD actually been a dirty rider on the roads? I was actually more surprised at Ryan Farquhar's dirty tactics sticking the elbow into Cowtin on the twins! Filthy play at 150+ mph to a young rider. Never mind Seeley usual antics of forcing his weight about and clipping Lee J....! Not a single word about them in here, too busy gossiping !! As ive said before, MD does have his bro's back.. but sitting at a PC watching the odd sensational clip makes it easy for everyone to judge the fella. Calm down folks. With some of the words going on in here- many folk wouldnt last in any pub for long. Glass houses, stones.. !
I agree MD is certainly not the sort of bloke I would like to go on holiday with but he is great to have in the mix. Worst case of complete tool since I have been watching racing must be Carl Fogarty. If you ever followed the 1997 WSB season, the one where John Kocinski kicked his arse on the uncompetitive RC45 that foggy was on the previous year. He was so childish it was embarrassing.
Well if it is all play for the camera, one of the sponsor PR boys needs to have a serious orientation review with him. Perhaps read him 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' when he tucks him in at night, because to a world wide audience, the ones who 'only' have a chance to see him him sulk on screen, all they see is the sulker, and that's what they'll be feeding back to the people who cover his leathers in stickers. The guys that hang around the paddock and watch him declaring 'y'alright lads, I'm only kidding' after the film crews have left might be good character witnesses at the job centre, but globally they're going to be a distinct minority. You can only give somebody a certain amount of chances to upset you a second time and in a small clique like road racers full of the likes of Anstey, Cummins, Hutchinson, McGuinnes and Donald, I know who I wouldn't be queueing to interview and fill my network's monitors with their sponsor's logo...
On a serious note though these are meant to be role models for the younger generation rising through the ranks and I fail to see how being an overweight bully who is a sore loser is a good role model to kids? Oh and I saw his interviews from Thursday night as well moaning on about how Rutter nearly ruined everything and that these BSB boys don't have a clue how to ride on the road with dodgy lines etc. Funny seem to remember Rutter being on the road a long time before MD ever appeared on the scene....
Trying to watch the footage, but can't connect on phone at mo. End of the day, MD isn't my idea of what is a gentleman at times and doesn't conduct himself brilliantly when he loses, but he's in the business of winning races and backs up his comments. I respect him for that. He's still a young dude in a high pressure environment and has an immense desire to win, no surprise he cops the hump when he doesn't win... I've said it before but think this desire could be his downfall, also I think the Dunlop name and expectations he puts on himself comes out when it doesn't go right and could make him try that little bit too hard some day.... He may be a knob at times but Schumacher was hardly a saint but a great driver and idolised by millions. I'm not saying MD is in that league amongst his peers but time will tell. Sponsors will still back him, there is not such thing as bad publicity, teams will still want him as in racing the first thing is winning. Something MD does. Until you've experienced what that must be like I don't think we fully understand what's going on in their head straight after a race on the roads. Ps - I bet MD doesn't give a flying fcuk either - and you got to admire that
