    So missing the racing life..

I work with some right bitter twisted c*nts and its starting to bring me down. Couple that with politics in other groups and having to deal with the general grind and daily bullshit of life and I'm starting to really get pissed off with how mundane things really are when I'm not on a bike.

Just wanted to share my frustrations with the forum since you guys always listen and have a fairly decent view on things.

Still feel lucky that I can do this amazing thing once a month. Makes you realise that lifes too short to waste worrying about work and mortgages. Waste it worrying about how you're gonna afford the next set of tyres!!!!

Watched it for you mate and I believe that what they are saying is... "when it goes wrong, turn it off then on again!"
Happy to help Mr Chops! :)

I don't even race but can relate to what you're saying that's why I ride to work and back every day no matter the weather because the bike is the escape from the rest of chaos and madness that is my career. Recently I have found myself wishing that I should've become a truck driver all those years ago yes would've had the frustration of the open road but wouldn't have all of the BS and politics that comes with an office job....

I've just been told that my ACU Road Race License is in the post, booked on group 2 at Donnington for the track day.

Bring on my first race with Team Army Endurance 2 :D

6 hour Endurance race - nothing like jumping in at the deep end, head first, blindfolded

Oh no we are not getting into the Friday rant are we?
Ok you have started me off now.
I too am totally fed up with peeps in the office talking about trivial shite.
Katie Price and all that swollocks drives me insane.
Roll on the weekend when I can climb on board and forget this shite.
Made worse the other week when it was when I normally went to Le Mans and for once the weather was stunning, always rains when I go.
Anyway heres to Assen in a few weeks, really cannot wait to fill my Kriega bags, don my leathers and hit the road.
    Rant over for another week

I work as a 3rd Line IT Support Engineer Jimbo. Would love to go racing my target this year is to progress to fast group on track when I get there hopefully I'll be quick enough to go do my ACU and go racing as although it sounds expensive you can't put a price on the rush and the memories to be fair :)

You're ACU is so simple and you could pass it easily in the slow group. Just turn up, ride safe and on line and don't mess up the starts, pits etc.

Most people I know had never heard of guys failing and were shocked when I told them that 3 failed mine. (Wedgie/Tyke & their mate JohnBoy amongst these).

Two young lads who binned it, one at paddock hill bend and one into the pit wall. The other guy just rode like an fool and thought he was racing from the second he got on track, wheelied out of the pits etc.

cool.. mate, you dont have to be quick to do your acu, and you'd be amazed how novice some racers are. so always someone to race against, and if you want to improve there is no way to do it quicker!

i'd say if you are comfortable in fast, passing as much as passed then you are good to go, and certainly wont struggle in a newcomers etc. the really quick lads on a td are normally racers anyway... ;)

but holy shite batman is it expensive!

i'd guess about £800 a weekend but quick off top of my head as a check......

    £225 entry fees
£30 transponder hire if havent got one yet :(
£20 garage fees or genny fuel
    £40 petrol for bike
    £75 deisel there Ave
£350 tyres - 1 1/2 rears a weekend half a front on ave depending on track and weather
    £30 food / coal etc
    £25 half set pads
    £30 oil and consumables
    £20 knee / toe sliders

    Optional but you would
    £80 test day before
    £80 rear tyre use
    £20 fuel for bike

    Total £1,025 :(:rolleyes::( best guess

and other general stuff like chains and sprockets etc i havent allowed for.... or crash damage.... you will have crash damage!

a lot of stuff you do in preperation and isnt a direct cost but stand by my original guess of around £750 / £800 cost there and then a weekend!!!!!

My pal always said "grand a round jimbo, grand a round" never believed him lol

but hey - cant put a price on memories and got the rest of your life to save some money
