As it states, does anyone want to sell a genuine Honda U Bend lock that fits under a 2012 pillion seat? Also, is this lock big enough to go around the the wheel and say a small sign post etc? What about the rear tyre?
I have one for a 2010 bike (well alblade has it safe for me) but not sure if the same for 2012, but guessing it would be. no it's not, its a disc lock only - but put a chain with it and it'll work fine. i'll try and dig out the link on here.
Oh right.....I have a disc lock. Was hoping it would go around the front tyre and a post of close enough. Bugger. What do people do for chains etc? I want something that can fit under the pillion seat/seat cowl and can be used if I nip into the shops etc. I have a disc lock but wanted a lock to stop opportunist thieves from lifting the bike into a van etc. I know I can't stop determined thieves with bolt croppers etc. with a small chain. I have a massive Abus Granite chain but it means stepping a Kriega bag to the bag wherever I go. Bit of a pain when I just nip to the bank or shop.
How on earth did you think a solid U bend bit of steel that will go round a wheel and a post was gonna fit in ur tail? Did you think you bought a Tardis?
It's too small mate. Erm, go to shops in the wife's car? That's what I do lol Tbh never taken anything more than a u lock on tour.... As said, chain is a ball ache
haha I wax thinking more around a small post, bike locking post etc and through the disc or some other part of the wheel/bike or something rather than over the tyres themselves. When I was in Hunts they showed me some funky Abus Bordo 5900 Folding Lock that did just that. It was small enough to go under the pillion seat and expanded big enough to go through a tyre. Looked a bit of a faff folding it up though and looked like you'd chop a finger off in the process. Maybe that's the best thing out there though?
On a more serious note from me. I have a plastic coated braided wire with a small built in lock at one end to lock my Helmet to my pillion peg, these are also available in thicker longer sizes that would coil up to fit in the "boot". I also have a 10 meter long one that joins everything up in the garage when I go away, down legs and up sleeves and through chinbars of any stoof im not wearing or taking with me. I also isolate the power in the garage so they cant use power tools to cut through my mahoosive chains.
Yeah that was my next plan. I have a Kryptonite cable wire which locks up some inexpensive stuff in the garage. I was thinking a metre of that would do the trick. It's just to stop the opportunist van driver or moped riders from picking it up without gaffing around. Plus the disc lock is on it. It's just something to use when I pop in a shop rather than a serious solution. Like you say, I have my massive chains etc for that.
Oxford Monster Ultra Strong Disc Lock And 1.5m Chain | Infinity Motorcycles Ordered mine yesterday and it was delivered ten mins ago....... good price and lock is small enough for seat storage (in its own little pouch)
Thanks for the link. It's not so much the disc lock I want to array but a small chain to wrap around the wheel and a post. I think I'm going to opt for the Abus Bordo style lock or just get a 4ft Kryptonite cable that can fit under the seat cowl with a small lock.
Having cut though a Kryptonite New York D-lock with a cutting disc, and seen how easy and quick it was, I am not sure I would trust any D-lock.
