Your right mate don't worry.. It's a gift . I'd only make use of them if we run out of toilet roll :)

Haha I've got a proper bike.. You mean you want a go on a proper blade with real brembos and proper midrange .. Micheal Dunlop will make yours go fast if you want him to. May throw a rod tho if they haven't been torqued correctly in the factory

Bought an SP thought the build quality was shit and the standard setup was bollocks.

Sold it and bought a BM much better bike by a million miles.

Each to their own at the end of the day but FYI BMW setup their bikes to a rider weight of 13 stone so if you have to run round in the shower to get wet then it will need adjusting for you...

Build quality sh*t or just something you didnt likr or wasn't right about yours? Just don't feel thats at all representative of most other SP owners.

also a little negative for a fireblade forum really seeing as thats what has brought us all together fella....

It was a feeble attempt at sarcasm dude that went right over your head. I apologise I was not trying to slate the blade as the OP had done to my bike was merely pointing out how stupid the rant was about it by making an equally stupid comment of my own. No offence was intended.

It's cool just a bike lover in general and want us all to appreciate all bikes not get in to slanging matches about them :)

Its an odd one this, as my customer has had a fully loaded 2010 S1 (wheels, pipe, pcv, map etc etc 196 bhp) for two years and then a fully loaded 2012 that made 186 bhp, he loved both bikes and said the 12 was a better bike over the 10, anyway after 4 years of the S1 he got an SP that we have loaded again and he swears its 100x better than the BM :S Also the SP has shown against his mates late ZX10R that the SP has an advantage! Also in my experience the build of the BM is very poor if exposed to the elements unlike the Honda now some time has passed a bigger picture of the BM is forming in my workshop, its still a great bike and I only post the facts but truth is the BM suffers with corrosion massively over the Honda when used all year, funny thing is some of the worst ones to date have never seen rain. As someone who works on all brands of bikes I am a little disappointed in the build of the BM, I expect better from the biggest adventure bike company in the world.

Just shows what suits one will not another :)

Agreed dude hence why I tried my sarcasm lol I think the Blades are fantastic bikes just for me I'm really well suited to the BM but obviously not everybody is suited to the same bikes. I think the Blade is a refined swiss army knife that can do everything which, is where it differs from the BM but I just feel more suited to the BM it suits my riding style and for me feels really planted and stable even at heavy lean angles which boosts my confidence. Performance wise it's down to a gnats pube at the end of the day.

Quite, lots of it is in the owners head when it comes down to speed and handling, well not all in the head but you know what I mean, feedback and all that, I love the way the BM rides and near got the old loaded bike from my customer, was a NICE bike!

As I say so many times, soooo many nice bikes around now, all super quick and loads of power, I have rode some dream bikes that cost around £42,000.00+ and let me tell you all what you get for 15k now stacks up well against the best of the best!

After a good test ride of some puka bikes I have jumped back on a standard super bike and thought WOW all this for 1/4 of the money!

The corrosion issue is resolved now dude they have fitted new sumps to all 14 model bikes and are slowly progressing through changing out the others as and when they come in for a service completely FOC. Of course they could be telling me porkies but as I use my bike all year round if it's down to just a frame after the winter then I'll say you'd be right but for now I am trusting that what they are telling me is the truth but I guess only time will tell. But as you say what suits some isn't for others and that is what makes biking so fantastic!

No poor build quality on my sp. Done 1500 miles and looks better than the day I bought it bar the the 3 stone chips on the lower fairing.. The engine on mine is run in now snd I can't believe how smooth it is and how much power it feels like it's producing. She lifts up effortlessly in 3rd on the power, it feels like it's getting stronger and stronger and the Ohlins forks give so much positive feedback it's unreal . Brembos are spot on although a rear under slung caliper will have to be added later .. I've definitely transformed the sp with a decent suspension setup. Took a fair bit of messing to get it right for road use but it's now phenomenal .. None of my pals on s1000rr or new zx10s can keep up with it on the road .Exit speeds out of corners on the sp are quite something. The more I use it the more I'm seeing it become the bike we all hoped it would be.. No wonder Bruce did a 132.3 on it at the tt. It's white some piece of engineering and gets everyone drooling when it's out. Well done me honda you've done it again .. Write me honda and the blade off at your peril

I think most of my pals have had a go on her now sbd there's much negativity coming back. She's even good on juice ..I'd of like to see a q/s and braided lines but I've added them now so it's all good. What's all this bollucks about anti wheelie? I like my front wheel coming up :). It's got everything we love about the blade just a little better i think. Should be a class leader for the traditionalist and collector in time to come

We should have another sp in our group before so long. My pal Has a 2010 s1000 which he's chopping in. Just trying to convince him not to get abs . He doesn't Believe me it doesn't work ha..

Your too quick Nick Sir, must be the BMW in you....lol

Not seen any sump problems with mine tbh, just general issues like rad (2010), fasteners, electrical connectors, ECU body/water traps!, throttle bodies corrode, also water traps on upper injectors as air box design etc

Don't really want to get into a what bikes the best debate other than to suggest that comparing performance based on rides outs or test rides for a morning Is probably a little unfair.

How many of us can actually ride these bikes to their full potential on a track, never mind the road?

I tend to ride quicker and feel more comfortable on my 929 than the RRA, is that because the 929's a better bike?

Further more on a recent track day I struggled to keep up with Jimbo who was riding my 929, I was trying honest:

I know, false neutral. Worth noting a mate on a 600 was also between the pair of us.

I totally get how bikes just "feel" better, Is this due to them really being better or what suits a rider?

Looked at a low miler before buying my blade 3 yrs ago.The corrosion on the fasteners, fixings underneath as well as the sump put me off and after seeing that lot Arthur I think I will still stick with my blade.Doesn't cost me anything now and still cleans up well. Would I like all the toys they have? Not had them don't miss em. Then the hassle of getting it 30 odd miles to a dealer(warranty).I love Beemers (cars)but I can't justify the build quality on their superbikes just yet.

Funny thing about all the electronics is that 99% of my customers turn them all off or have no idea how to use them lol

I feel all the latest influx of superbikes from Kwak,BM and Ducati have more emphasis on power figures & gizmos but it's all smoke and mirrors really because that power has to be reigned in by the electronics to normal levels on the road it's fine if you live at a track but not so much in the real world also Looks play a big part as well thanks to the Panigale but it's the lesser powered 899 that seams to be stealing the show because it's by far a better bike to ride! There's not enough emphasis in the litre class on poise, balance, useability and control! Rather than out and out power and electronics! Dare I say it it's becoming more of a fashion thing and about bragging rights! My knob's bigger than yours! Rather than how the bike ride and makes you feel! My Blade does everything I need and more!
But to me it's like the difference between Sienna Miller,Kate Beckingsdale and Katie Price,Jodie Marsh less is definitely more! :D
