I'm Starting at the easy end to try & solve a fueling problem. My track bike 1999 SRAD 750 started miss behaving in April. The Symptoms.... Runs smooth right up to 7000-8000 rpm then starts bogging down under acceleration. I put new fuel in it and it cleared itself and ran fine for the last four sessions. Tbh never gave it another though, that is until Monday at Silverstone, after three sessions it reared it's head again so much so after session 4 plus one lap of session 5 I called it a day. So here's my plan of action "for now" Drain tank & flush. Clean/change air filter whilst about it Check plugs Add new fuel with the most recomended carb cleaner by you guys And hopefully that will be it sorted? Over to you, thanks Feel free to Insert shit in carburettor jokes here
I had this problem on my SRAD 600. Then i realised that a previous owner had removed the fuel pump. I fitted a fuel pump and it ran perfectly for ten seconds. Then it pissed fuel out of everywhere. Stripped the carbs off and found a sticking needle valve on one carb. These carbs are renowed to be tricky. Get the carbs checked over mate. Could be anything from a blocked jet to a split diaphram. Check what jets it has in it. Aftermarket can ?
Could be mate, the previous owner was pretty good on the maintainence side of things, but I guess things can alter? Thanks for the insight RogerDodge, and your spot on, it does indeed have an after market can. Beowolf to be precise, perhaps that in itself alters fueling, And track bikes are renowned for being 'fettled with' Definiatly looking like the touch of a pro needed here isn't it Yes Andrew, now you see, I can do that, And tbh really hope it's something along them lines? But if some crap has got in, it's looking like they're going to have to be looked at regardless. Cheers guys for your replies , & sorry for tardy reply.
Stella's in the fridge & Bats is out of retirement, we're Going to start twirling the spanners on this in about an hour, I'll let you know the outcome in good time. One outcome is a given, on a school night too
Lesson learnt. It's fuel injected Srads stopped carbs in 1997. Two new injectors required. Ker Ching Numpty nomination coming up I guess
You'd have thought so, but guess who was running road pressures, sold their track bike thinking that everyone was on 600's, and missed the turning for Donnington today and ended up 5 miles down the M42 ☺️
Injection throttle bodies need to be balanced just like the carb throttle bodies do so you may still get to sell em on at some point.
