Got a few hundred quid to spend on the bike. Already got most of the 'cosmetic stuff done' can/hugger/tail tidy etc, so considering fitting a Quickshifter. I admit I don't know anything about them, but love the sound . Are they practical to use on a standard bike (no track days) are their different types ? what's involved in fitting them ? will the gear indicator still work and what am I looking at cost to supply and fit ?
Personally dont think its needed for a road bike as you can still clutchless upshift but they are sure fun. If you live near arthurbikemad then hes the man to see. If you can afford an HM then thats the one you want
It's not needed on the road but neither is any of the other stuff I have put on. God does it make you smile though!!!
I found it really useful on the road during our Spain tour. 1 thing I loved doing is changing up mid corner. Just because I could
There some big old sweepers over in Spain aint they Colin. Anyway, moving on Just do it Brad, who cares, as said most things fitted to our bikes can't ever be used to full potential on the road, seriously listening to Mr Owens last weekend, it sounded mint. If I were a blinger, I'd certainly consider one. And as also said, get yer backside over to Arthur, that will make sure it's all running tickity boo from the onset. May even get it cleaned too
Xmas can't come soon enough so i can get an HM GP Just need to find someone up here in scotland who knows what they're doing to help me fit it
lol, just get one fitted that what I say, no matter who or where you will love it, Colin's the man too
Nothing wrong with the Plus. Many race teams still using it cos it works so damn well and is so simple
HM are great when they work correctly. If you have any kind of problems with it though you have to remove the loom to use the bike. On some bikes that is a major PITA! I have 2, one on my SDR and one on my Blade. The Blade one has been playing up but only when out on the track with misfires. I can't make it do it in the paddock. Taking the bike apart to try and find the problem is enough to make me want to rip it off and throw it as far as I can.
When I install any HM I make sure the connector for the sub loom can be accessed without removing all the air box etc, this way a simple section of wire can be used to short the two pins and the bike will run as normal, if you have a problem the first thing to do is short the two pins and see if the bike runs as normal, you do not need to remove the sub loom from the coils. Any method of shorting the pins can be used, if you were out even a tear of tin foil could be used.
We can also sell blanking plugs for exactly this purpose. Just unplug the Shifter and replace with this little plug.
Cheers,I'll take you up on that offer Colin, that's the first run of next year sorted,a trip to Colin's
