Hello fellow riders! I have recently got into sport bikes and desperately need to do a track day to improve my riding ability, finding it hard to push myself further on the road. Looking at the Ron Haslam school, at Donnington as a good tuition based event but suspect any track day with tuition could be good. (be handy to start on their bike tho!) Also, predictably, I want to change my exhaust! It doesn't look like there is a simple cat bypass pipe for the 2014 blade as an initial mod. I am wary about changing the can and losing the exhaust valve/low down torque as I did with my ZX6r, but is this even an issue with 1000cc bikes? Do some aftermarket exhausts come with valves and some come with trick plugs to stop any ecu/warning light? Do new people to forums ask too many questions on one post?!
Welcome to the forum Steve, akrapovic is probably the best choice of exhaust if you go their road legal version as this has a cat and exhaust valve, to be honest though I have a racefit and that has done away with the cat and the exhaust valve and it hasn't made much difference I do have a powercommander fitted though with a basic map
welcome to 1000RR mate. Go for the carbon akrapovic with cat and flap, it looks good and I presume it sounds better without changing the bikes fuelling to much, quite pricey though at about £500 for a clean 2nd hand one. Andy B
Welcome to the forum SteveDustyDe. You can't ask questions before you show us some pics of the fireblade you are loving so much
As far as I know a four stroke requires the least back pressure as can be achieved, so I cut out the cat on mine
Is there a cat bypass pipe I could fit for now or is the cat in the original can? I really need to get the fairings off and have a good look for myself! I do love the look of the racefit and do want the cat out but the servo in. I guess a power commander is the only route to achieve that set up. Its annoying that there is never enough info on the exhausts. Just looked at Scorpion RP-1 GP Exhaust - Honda CBR1000 RR Fireblade - FREE UK DELIVERY and fitting instructions. Surely if you remove the servo it would bring up an engine warning light?!
If you remove the servo for the exhaust it will through up a fault, however you can sort that by getting an exhaust servo replacement module they are about £40 and it leaves a nice space to put a powercommander in
Glenn from purbrook has an sp with racefit might be worth giving him a shout to have a chat with about
Welcome to the forum, I think on the 2014 blade the cat is further forward, in the headers so a full system would be needed for decat And Ron Haslam school is worth every penny mate and if I could afford to go back I would
Good point, I think I should throw my money at improving my riding skills first. I'm already dangerously close to "all the gear, no idea" !!!!! Good shout on meeting up with Glen
Mate I'm completely that! All the gear no idea is me all over but who cares what people think I'm having fun lol. Just get a slip on it will still sound good with the cat
Hi n welcome dude Drop Andy from Tweekes a message see what he can do,got me a great deal on my Scorpion!
