Hey does anyone know wether the steering damper on my 2003 suzuki gsxr 600 can be serviced? The bikes 11 years old and I've had it since 2009 and never touched it. What oil should I use if it can be changed. Or is it best to go down the aftermarket route? Cheers, James.
I'd have thought any damper can be serviced matey? The standard Ohlins ones on pre 2014 ZX10's were shyte outa the box so anyone racing or doing TD's had them re-valved. Give KAIS a ring and ask.
if it's an OE damper and at that age not sure they can be serviced,i know they can now (o/e),but the earlier ones couldn't. for the sake a of a hundred quid might aswell get an aftermarket, thats if you really do need a steering damper, have you tried riding without it??
That's just it scoob, it's that old I don't know if id notice a difference by servicing. I never get any big wobbles when I'm out on it lol Never given the damper much thought really and always get the suspension service every year. So was just wondering really.
well they do need servicing, prob not as much as the suspension, the reason I ask is that if a 600 is well set up,and on a decent smooth track it shouldn't need much damping as far as the steering goes, unless your proper on it and chucking it in sideways all the time
