Not sure where this one is going but he did win the GP2 championship on his first attempt along with Championship wins in Formula Renault, F3 and Karting. Drivers don't necessarily cut their teeth in smaller F1 teams but rather in the lower championships like GP2 and Formula 3 etc.

He had a well and truly established racing career before approaching McLaren at 10yrs old

We should be proud of F1 as most of the teams are based in the UK regardless of where their owners are from. :)

Why does he need to if your good your good end of. Nico needed the lower leagues to just try to be as good as Hamilton and at the moment its not working

It's called sport pal!! I mostly follow the rider or driver I like the most regardless of nationality!! Bet I get a caning now because I was really chuffed Sylvain Guintoli won the WSB championship.

    Sport has no borders mate

    I can't say I follow F1 anymore.

However for me Hamilton has always come across as a bit of a shaft..

But i'd rather him win than Ze Germans

@ dessp2 my favourite GP rider is Rossi but if it was a title decider between him and a British rider I would be backing the Brit.
@ MrB It would be a travesty if Rosberg won the title, I've got me hankies ready.

I can't believe people prefer Rosberg over Hamilton. Rosberg is by far the biggest tool with the absolute least personality offering. I haven't seen Hamilton deliberately sabotage another drivers race because he wasn't quicker as we can very much find examples of this by more than one German driver in recent years. Rosberg generally only smiles if he wins otherwise is a total spoilt little brat after a race.

So this should indeed be quite an exciting end to the F1 season regardless :D

That's a fair one each to there own!! Look everyone Lewis Hamilton is far from my favourite racing driver and I guess I like to support the under dog when it comes to motor racing. With reference to a lot of people 'Fellow Brit' is something I can never subscribe to mainly because whenever I go on holiday abroad (especially in Europe) I have to hang my head in shame and embarrassment with how our 'fellow Brits ' behave. Only ones racing driver wise I have liked is Mansell, Hill and Button (many before but in terms of since I have been watching F1).

So let's have a good race/battle on Sunday and let the best man win.

Well then maybe Lewis should know him off and get revenge for 1994 when Hill was robbed by a MS., it's what Rosberg would do no doubt, judging by his Monaco stunt ;)

Spent 6 years in BAOR. Was there the night we lost to the boxheads in the World Cup semi-finals, and believe you me we got some grief that night. Would back the Eric's over the Frogs and many other countries but not England.

Just cheered up a shite Friday afternoon at work........spicy patriotic thread, nothing like a bit of Fatherland bashing to get the sap rising. Just praying it don't go to penalties.
