Following the breakin into my garage and the theft of my 2011 Honda CRF450R motocross bike by some local scum, Im looking at additional security should a bike be stolen in future. Garage protected by Alarm, CCTV etc however if a bike gets taken in future I want the ability to locate the bike and recover it. Looking for advice on the best GPS tracking device for Road bike, track bike and motocross bike (no battery supply) So far I have seen these 3 decices 1. Wired GPS Vehicle & Boat Tracker - Back2You 2. Home - TracLogik 3, 07 Telecoms 07Telecoms GPRS Tracking Device "Prime Lite" May also invest in an internal siren within my garages and internal security lights to imare their vision etc Advice appreciated Thanks
Have you looked at the Tracker units? They are linked in with the police. Saves time then when searching for your bike/car etc. Motorbike Tracking and Motorcycle Security - TRACKER Vehicle Tracking
Don't know about trackers etc and I'm sure others will be best placed to advise. Don't know if this exists but what about a smoke release system that will fill the garage with harmless smoke but render them effectively blind?
Directional anti personal mines is what the feckers need, not harmless smoke! at least they won't be doing it again where as with smoke it wears off

I'm curious how this works do you have to load the sim card with credit. I thought your number gets reassigned if you don't use it for so many months. I seem to remember a story of someone texting there grandmothers phone which was burried with her when one day she texted back. The number had been reassigned because the pay as you go hadn't been used.
I think I'd be tempted to connect the welder up to the bike chain so they got a home alone style belt. "Brrrrllllaaaggghhhhh. You alright Marv."
If you do a track request once a week it will use credit at 9p per time, so if using it like that the number shouldn't be reallocated
dont see the point of a smoke screen, just open teh door, out goes the smoke,it's at night nobody would see it.a high pitched alarm would be far more effective.(as in anti personel, not a random house alarm)
The number would only be reassigned if the device ie phone/gps was not powered on and connected to the network for think it's still 6months. You don't actually have to use the sim card ie (make/recieve calls) as long as it has credit and it's connected n showing on the cellular network of choice (orange/o2/ et al) they leave the number alone.
BikeTrac, I fit a good few of them. They use mult tech to locate and track the bike, GPRS, triangulation, VHF a and I quote "other methods" to find the bike, yeah it costs but your paying one for Muti tech tracking system and two call centre monitoring, you get txt alerts when bike is touched, you can track it your self, bread crumb trail you can follow, bike down alert, and more. The big bonus is if you report it stolen they track and report location or assist police to find it, they pride themselves on finding the bikes. 250-300 for tracker then 100 per year.
Or don't call them and get it yourself! Note: if you report it stolen I think they shut down the remote tracking, I've not asked if true but I did hear that, to stop people getting beat to death I think.
