Going to treat myself to a one piece suit to see if it gives me more freedom of movement than the current two piece I use, I have a budget of £600 - 800 so I guess I'm looking at mid range gear from most manufacturers - I quite like the look of the Spidi supersports although it's now out of production there are a few still knocking around the www, anyone own one ? I'm open to any other recommendations, also is it best to go for full length leg or the short leg, my current leathers are Alpinestars (52 euro) jacket that is a nice close fit and (52 euro) track pants that hang off me like a wet nappy, would I still have baggy arse syndrome with a 52 euro one piece ? thank you
last year I bought a one-piece Alpine stars Fluoro (I also have a reasonable fit 2 piece Alpinestars) and found them very comfy to wear. However, I barely have an arse in a pair of jeans, so I too fall into the baggy arse category with these on http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/15442.htm
BKS have a sale on and if you could stretch to 899, you could get made to measure one piece leathers, stage 1,2 or 3. I had one of theirs many years ago and the difference in having something made specifically for you is worth it, but you can't eat cake after.
You can get some great suits for the money your looking at! Dainese, alpinestars, spidi and some good others I haven't mentioned my ixon was a great buy for the price just because it was last season's colours
Go somewhere like j&s and try different ones on. The alpine star suits did not fit me at all nor did the bks. Arlen ness fitted best. I also alway ware knocks track day vest
BKS suit for £899 !, for that the suit is already made a certain size , if you want the bespoke made to measure service, allow for double that & then some
Go and find the leathers you like, make sure the size is a good fit then go buy them from here... Motorcycle Leather Suits - FC-Moto English
My arlen-ness have been down the road a few times and held up really well. I've had hill4leather carry out a few minor repairs so I can use them as spares next year. On Richa's in 2015 as they're a team sponsor (get mine at cost) and before anyone slags them off I saw loads of big crashes from the lads in them this year and they held up well, I'll just upgrade the elbow & shoulder armour.
shop closest to me only stock Alpinestars, so looking like i'll be trying on a gp pro, don't like the colours of them though, reaaly like the look of the Spidi supersport but I'd have to buy blind from the internet, then go through all the hassle of sending them back if they don't fit etc.. are the shorter legged leathers designed to just reach the top of the boot or tuck inside ? I have full length trousers at the moment and it can make your calves feel a little bulky and sweaty with your boots on.
I use a Spidi Track Wind Pro suit which is comfy, fits well and Crash's well too! Mr Crutchlow uses these. Spidi Track Wind Pro Leather Suit - FC-Moto English Retails around £800 but got it cheaper at DT than the price in Matts link above, so it always pays to shop around!
I would add though if money no object then it would be a Dainese D-Air (£2.5K) or a HELD Race EVO (£1K) if going for a non active suit.
ive had alpinestarts, frank thomas, arlen ness, some other low/mid budget brands and the one that i always go back to is the alpinestars suit. had my original ones for 8 years, crashed in them multiple times, they look rough now, but still going strong. I went as far to buy another set exactly the same so when they do go past best i have another to wear. But note, the new alpinestars gear (well the low budget stuff ) is made in asia, vietnam or somewhere. and it shows, make sure you buy the gear that is made in EU, or over this way anyway. mine is made in romania.
Aye fella... I'm too ugly for there to be another one of me in Warrington Got myself a new track weapon, in the form of a rr8... Proper track tool!
