Nope they won't fit, at least defo without serious modifications! The tube lowers are machined differently and the cartridges in non BPF don't get held in place by a bolt going upwards into the lower at the axle area so a gaping hole would need to be filled! Next up you have the issue of the preload adjuster being done from the lower tube area rather than the compression adjuster found on non BPF tubes! And that's without even thinking about if anything else would fit like the top cap threads or anything number of other subtle changes between the two! Imh If you have an older set of non BPF's you want a lil bit more adjustability and performance out of get a revalve done on them and they will more than likely out perform the OEM BPF setups for about the same money as buying a second hand set of BPF's you will be more than happy!
Thanks shiny, I saw a set of bpf internals for sale and made me wonder if they would! Oh well will keep saving for ohlins then
What??? You talking about the triple clamps Jay? Both forks 08-11 and 12+ have same outer diamentions so the triples trees are same diameter meaning both forks (oh and SP ohlins) are interchangeable but what is not is the internal gubbins from one fork being swapped to the otters from another years which is what was asked!
I would recommend the piston kit upgrade for standard cartridge forks, I stuck an ohlins kit in mine and originally Colin's forks (now on 'great guys' bike) as Colin splashed out on the new ohlins forks replacements. The piston kit made a massive difference to the damping characteristics adding plushness to bump obsorsion rather than harsher transitions the stock had and work very well on the road too.
