hinson slipper clutch I will be fitting one very soon and want to put a new full clutch kit in it do I have to get a special kit or can I get oem ones whats peoples preff thanks
You just use the standard clutch plates. I fitted a Sigma slipper to my 07 and in the fitting instructions cd it said that the standard plates are used. The only difference is whether you leave out the large spring washer that sits between the 1st and 2nd friction plates depending on what kind of riding you intend doing. I left mine in and it's worked fine... You seem to have a cd there, have a look on it and there should be some instructions.. Fitting mine took about an hour overall..
best tip I can give you is to make sure you torque up the 6 spring bolts on the hub as this will effect the amount of slip you get if not done right. as for the 2 different pressure springs, the lighter one will allow more slip (from memory,i'm going off my STM but the principle is still the same),so if you find it's slipping too much on down shift, put the heavier one in.
oh and use the standard clutch plates.HRC are very expensive for no (real world) gain. also what bike yr is it for? not sure about 08- but if it's -07 make sure you put the 2 thickest friction plates at the top and bottom of the clutch pack.(they are only slightly thicker so may need to measure to be sure)
its an o4 the hinson is for the 06/07 but I have the 06/07 basket and bearing to fit as well if you know what I mean
