Well it's been in the post for a while now but finally I broke my 4 year crashing duck with an off at Paddock Hill today I'd love to say I was pushing the limits but that wasn't the case. Changed down and tipped in and the bike then decided to jump out of gear and like a numpty I didn't pull in the clutch but thought it would be ok to coast through the corner and pick up a gear at the exit. Unfortunately the Blade had other ideas and just before the apex it jumped back in gear and with it being wet the rear just disappeared from under me. Did the upturned turtle impression across the tarmac and into the gravel. Lesson learned always pull in the ****** clutch!!!!! Bike isn't too bad considering, worn down peg, crash bung and a small weld required to the subframe. Bit of fibreglass work to do but have enough gravel in the bike to re-gravel the path! Stalker did a great job of not collecting me as I was spinning on my back in his path. Oh well that's a few evenings and next weekends free time accounted for. But considering some of the crashes I've seen at paddock I was happy not to be loading the bike into the van with a shovel. The trailer of shame The damage
Unlucky mate, as you say could have been a lot worse considering that corners reputation for cartwheeling bikes!
Hope you're OK. Bike doesn't look too bad, hope you don't find any unexpected damage when you strip her down.
Hopefully have it all stripped down tomorrow. Bike wouldn't start after but once I've got it stripped down I'll check all plugs ect. Fingers crossed it's not to difficult to diagnose and I don't find any serious frame issues ect.
Possibly just the tilt sensor has been dislodged. Hopefully you'll be up and running again in the next few weeks
Yeah that was my first thought, it appeared to be still in it's place but I'll have a proper check over everything when I have all the fairings off. A part of the undertray on the subframe broke off and the PCIII is fixed to it. The PCIII still lights up ok but maybe the wiring loom got damaged flapping around. Will unplug it if I can't find any other problem and see if that's it. Fingers crossed it's something simple though.
Yup that would be my first port of call also then to see if the PC3 has been yanked about a bit and pulled a plug or stretched a wire.
Good news. Stripped the fairings off earlier, managed to fill a bag of gravel that I can sell to builders merchants, thanks Mr Palmer Turned on the ignition and noticed the fuel pump wasn't priming. Quick look around and saw the bracket holding the ECU was slightly bent in and one of the plugs wasn't completely inserted. Pushed it back in place and she fired right up! All cleaned now and no other damage so just need to put on a new peg, new crash bung and get the subframe welded where it cracked by the exhaust mount.
Nice 1. Not as costly as first thought which is always a bonus. I go by the presumption of it's worst case and then take anything as a bonus if it is anything less in those situations
Yeah I was expecting to have to get the tank off at least. Nice that it turned out to be an easy fix.
