After what seems a lifetime but was only 5 weeks, was only going to be a week to 10 days originally, the forks are home and performance enhanced I had the work done by Gareth at Reactive Suspension near your, the delays were not his fault, entirely out of his control. The kit are as the sticker says, a AK20 spring and cartridge kit by Traxxion Dynamics from across the pond, the TiN plating was done by a company that also does F1 stuff, which is where the delays came from. It seems that when you spend £££££s like an F1 team you get your stuff to the head of the job list.. The fork bottoms I sprayed myself last night, I know that red might not be everyone's cup of tea but I thought " why not be a bit different? " it matches the red in the Repsol theme. Hopefully, after I get in from nights in the morning, I can get them reinstalled and get the bike back on its wheels in time for the weekend....and give my mate back his headstock stand that I borrowed "only for a week or so", just as well he's understanding.
The red is quite a bold step I must admit, but the front mudguard is dark blue, then the Brembos are dark too so, hopefully it should work..pics of course once back together. The kit was £900, with the titanium coating and the other new parts total cost came in at £1300
Very bling. Be interested to see what they look like on the bike - maybe the red will look better once they're on....
They looked great until I scrolled down to the ghastly red! Sorry Matey but that Red just looks like what all the Chavs use on their Hot hatches exhausts and standard brake calipers! Ally coloured fork bottoms is the Ohlins look which is why most colour their forks in Gold/Ally in the first place.
So the Fork upgrade was £2200 in total? Kinnel! Pukka Ohlins FGRT Forks with NIX 30 cartridges are only £2250 http://www.crescent-motorcycles.com...0707203253_CRESCENT_7055&category=&menulevel= Fair play if that's what ya wanted.
Not cheap Tom but will likely transform the bikes handling.. well done for going red! not my cup of tea but once on the bike it may look like its the right thing to do..
Yeah I can see what you're saying, I did think of silver as in Ohlins, but they're not are they and everyone goes silver...no disrespect to others on here I considered gold and other colours, but I thought with red being already in the scheme, it should go, but the proof of the pudding etc. As some have said regarding cost, Ohlins don't make forks for the 07 anymore, yes you can fit the FGRT but on top of the purchase price you then have to add all the extras to get them to fit. I priced it up and it came in around £3.5k..I even asked Ohlins to make a set of bespoke forks to fit my bike but they declined saying that the tooling no longer existed as it was obsolete
Haha...ok £900 for the kit, £200 for the coating, £100 for seals etc £100 for putting it all together and base tuning them, Taking the bike down to get it overall set up once I've put the thing back together
Look forward to seeing them on the bike. I think the contrast to the colours in the rest of the photo make the red seem a bit stark.
Ok..as promised..the fitted photos See..the red isn't that shocking in the scheme overall.... I did notice that putting the bike away covered in salt all those week ago has given it a real furry look I think a blast out on it and then wash it ready for the weekend is next on the list
I have to say that the Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen in me did a bit of a wince when I saw them off the bike but I see what you've done there. The red section of the fairing seems to sweep down to the calipers. Looks ok that does
