I read somewhere that the 06-07 bikes have a reputation for a weak gearbox and like trashing the cogs..
Is this correct fellow forum members ??

The reason I ask is that I've had a number of false neutrals between 5th-6th recently when accelerating hard.
now I'm getting concerned that the box is getting ready to throw the towel in on those two gears.

Also, am I correct in my understanding that the gearbox in these particular engines are of the cassette type and easily removed and repaired without dismantling the whole engine should the need arise to fix this fault if it gets worse..

Chain adjustment is ok and gearchange linkage is nice and tight, I also use race pattern shift so using positive pressure on the lever to change gear.

    Cheers folks

I bought a magazine recently (possibly "Ride"...... I was bored, don't hate me!) and it had a massive article about the RR6/7, including several pages about buying second hand. Seem to remember it mentioned something about an issue with gearbox wear, and false neutrals between 5 & 6.
Shall take a look when I get home.

Mine sometimes does it when on the beans between 5 - 6, was much better when I keep my chain adjusted perfect. But yes you can change the gearbox in an hour!! They are about £200 on ebay should the worst happen, no huge drama

I think I'll buy a second 'box as a spare just in case, then if the worst happens at least I can change it out fairly quick

I have an rr6 and have experienced sporadic false neutrals hard on the gas using the quick shifter between 5th and 6th too. Wasn't sure if it was just an issue with the quick shifter so I've reverted to using the clutch between those gears now.

Talking around 250 for new box, if you do it yourself then just cost of oil.

I was lucky enough to have help from Arthur and at a very good price

I too have a quick shifter and the false neutrals are when its pinned at around 8-9K revs, so I'm wondering if the QS kill times need altering slightly to accommodate the higher range.
When I first set the QS up its was for use around 5-6k, it's a HM plus shifter.
