Amazingly good actually.. Mce seem to accept that mods are common practice and doesn't really seem to affect the policy.. I got a great deal this year but can remember the final price.. I did post on here somewhere and from memory about £300

It always makes me nervous when the insurance asks "Has it been modified at all", and i aways lie and say, "nope, totally standard"... Think with all these new shiny's I'm bolting on and if it doesn't whack it right up, then I'm gonna call them in a few weeks and start listing the extra they will have to pay for should the unmentionable happen and see what they come back with !
I think i'll start the conversation with, "Hypothetically speaking, it i was to fit........., what would my premium be" ?
    Should be interesting !

I really can't understand why but my insurance renewal is £146 fully comp.

I do limit the mileage to 3,000 / year because I never do more than that but aside from that I can't understand how it's so cheap.

I even declared my Yoshi pipe.

Had yet check on mine,as could not remember.

Last year was 271 on a new Blade, full replacement in 1st year, 20k mikes annual use, protected NCB, full business use/commuting and foreign use, so not bad for the level of cover.

I play the field at insurance time and I also try loads of permutations as sometimes adding extra mileage will actually bring the quote down. However I do always declare any mods they ask about as I don't want them to have any squirm room if I need to claim. Don't forget though that the rules have changed and so now if they don't ask you don't have to tell.

I paid £175 last year. 5 years no claim and 48 years old in a rural area.

Thanks. Will call them nearer the time. Nobody will touch me without 1 year NCB at the moment, even though I'm an oldie with no points. Which means waiting till September !

They seem to make it up as they go along.

I took out my policy again with MCE at the Excel Bike Show.

Bearing in mind I only have three years NCD (since returned to biking) and had upgraded from a 2011 blade to a 2015 model, I've always paid around £340, even when I started off with no NCD three years ago

At they show they wanted to charge me £420, claiming the additional amount was due to the fact that my new bike was a much higher value than my previous one......... (Which as fair enough). I asked them about the additional years NCD, but they couldn't give me an answer and stuck with the reason that the bike a higher value than my previous bike.

I told them I would try some other companies and went to walk away ............. The rep instantly called over her manager and after a bit of haggling I got it for the same price as my 2011 bike, including my leathers, helmet and legal assistance.

Always worth trying to haggle and threaten to try somewhere else.

Not been particularly happy with MCE "administration department" recently, following a mis-sent letter telling me my insurance had been cancel as I had failed to reply to a letter in relation to my direct debit........... BUT I had paid for the policy in full when I took it out and therefore didn't need any direct debits. After three days of trying to get through to them, and being told I would be called back (Which never happened) I received a letter admitting that the previous letter was an administrational error on their part.

At the end of the day I think of insurance as a legal requirement that you can't get out of, it's down to me to ride in a way to avoid having an accident and keeping the bike secure, so no scum bags try and steal or damage it.

Every year I renew my car insurance I phone up and haggle. Same for RAC/AA etc. I normally make up a figure somewhat lower than my renewal and say the quote is from X company. I have 2 highly modified classic VWs so to get quotes each time is really painful, I prefer to stick to the one company, I just want a little bit off....

I did phone Bennetts who I'm insured with ATM. And I tried to do an online quote with them (no go, message to phone them)
I tried MCE as well, similar price until I have NCB and more experience (same as Bennetts)
Bennetts were considerably cheaper than everyone else when I bought my fz-1 but they want 10 times that to swap to a blade !
