Heard a number of people say the 899 is a much better road bike than its bigger sisters.. 150bhp is a nice amount on the road in my opinion.

And yeah, just look at it.

I think there more like 126 bhp at the wheel.

A mate just get one and reckons it's quite slow but he has just come of a gixer thou so I guess it's all relative

are you sure they are losing 80bhp in the transmssion? that sounds crazy to me??
I would be expecting 175+bhp at the wheel on a 205bhp bike?

Your hip will do you in on it they are narrow and high pegs , plenty of poke but comes on like a motor crosser as for the 899 being a better road bike the bike press have always said that right from the 748 to 848 you can't beat cubes , lovely looking bike but you need to ride it , doesn't wrap you in a comfort bubble like the blade ,needs it's electronics good when buying new you wouldn't want to repair one outside warranty
Not seen a quick 899 on the road yet,

Heard off a mate today, that Sheffield motorcycles are selling the 899 for £9999 brand new and the 1299 for £1299. I've not researched it myself, but he's a pretty reliable source!

Can't even see the base 'Cooking' 1299 being priced that low!

Linky link or it aint true!

The 'S' version is the one to go for, the 'R' is too dear at £26K

That's the one. Wonder if he was mistaken and they were pre registered bikes or something....seems a bit odd.

pmsl.... some suggest the base model is actually better for the road without all the semi active nonsense.... lol....and that mere mortals such as ourselves would struggle to get the most out of a base 14k bike anyway on britains bumpy queens highways...

but 'S' does give you soooooo much more car park bragging rights ;)

lovely bikes, if I wasn't so fond of my ST3r I'd be looking at one.... but be interested to see if the S is actually worth the hike in price....

I have ohlins semi active suspension on my zx10r and it's fantastic and I would thoroughly recommend it especially for road riding which has changing condition.
