As an all year rider, i've been wearing textiles for my commuting but i fancy a change into something leathery.
I've been looking into leather jackets with inner removable layers to keep me warm during the winter and beyond, so what are you normally wear for your day to day commute?
1-2 piece leather suit, or get a nice leather jacket and wear plenty of layers under?

I am interested to hear your thoughts guys and gals so do let me know for something you've tried and tested..

    Thank you in advance

2 piece RST leathers & a rainsuit served me well during winter commuting. The rainsuit kept the wind chill out & the leathers kept the body heat in. It was my hands that suffered more than anything else. Good winter gloves or heated grips are a must IMO

I've tried all combinations for my winter commutes but ended up with textiles ( currently Dainese jacket & rst bottoms) with the removable inners for the really cold weather because there's more room underneath for the various layers I use... my leathers are too tight to get it all under & I end up feeling like an overstuffed mobile sausage! When it's given heavy rain I pop waterproofs over the top.

I wear leather all year round. When it gets cold and wet I wear a light fluoro jacket over my dainese racing pelle jacket and rukka wind-stopper as a mid layer, all good down to sub zero.

Jeans during the winter a full leather ie no stretch panels, treated with nikwax, zero leaks.

Gloves and boot both of the goretex variety,Alpine stars jet road gloves and some newly purchased Daytona Strive GTX boots.

If you have the readies look at the Rukka Merlin range.

Lozzy, i thought i was the only one looking a bit stuffed like a sausage, !!

I pressume base leathers and then something for insulation..hmm, like i do now then instead of textiles.

    Cheers guys

My really cold weather layers are merino base, cold killers mid layer & then Rab mountain top, works a treat but way too bulky for under my leathers. Although I do wear the leathers if it's not super cold & pop a warm hoodie or a good fleece over the jacket. Sidi Gor Tex boots are awesome always have warm tootsies :)

Bit pricey, but I have a pair of these, I only have the trousers but you can have the full 2 piece suit. I find them waterproof in all but the worst conditions, very comfortable and warm whatever the weather. I also have gortex liners but never use them. Do them for Girls to.

I try not to ride in shite weather but if I have to it has to be leather jeans and my textile jacket (RST ventilator 3) with the 2 zipped linings in. One is waterproof and the other thermal. Quite nice actually as you can remove them and have mesh jacket for summer.
