Anyone used either of these? Pro's Con's etc etc? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391321934092?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Airhawk-2...916224?hash=item2ec7488cc0:g:uuAAAOxyx0JTe4y9
Nope never have but my m8,s missus has done 10,000 miles on one similar, after a while they don't feel so good on your arse. ....go figure hey I on the other hand have re foamed my 06 seat ( tight arse I know ) I used a R6 seat ,cheap off the bay , gutted the foam, trimmed, and stuck it to the Blade plastic base . It works great.......no more pain after a 100 mile jaunt , I did a 300 mile ride with quick fuel stops and I kid you not it was bloody great on the arse ,helped with the back too. Next time your near a R6 or even a bus a. ......have a feel of the seat......you,ll be amazed how soft but still firm they are.
I had my seat recovered and had the gel inserts put in, makes a big difference. I've only read good things about the Airhawk one, but for slightly more you could have your seat done and it will all be nice and neat. There is a post on here somewhere about a guy in Wales who does a good job at a very reasonable price.
Tiz not for general use Jimbo, I've committed to a 14 day Euro Tour in July with the regular TD Crew and know from experience the standard Kwak seat is a killer after 100 steady motorway etc miles or so, so trying to avoid a tourcherous ride across Euro land!
Invite must be in the post Mate if it's with the fine dining crew.... I'd be more worried about finding a comfy chair at lunch time ha ha ha
Looking at one of these Tourtecs myself for summer euro trip. Let us know if you decide to get one...
I did buy the Tourtec in the end Nigel as I thought for just over £30 it was well worth a punt. Seat it's self looks great however the elasticated straps are a bit toss with no buckle and just frayed ends. I've just cut em off as the pad will stay put anyway with no straps tbh. Bar that can't say much else as have no bike at the mo as waiting for a new un in March then see how the weather unfolds.
Could you not have used a lighter or flame to slightly melt the frayed end together stopping them coming apart any further rather than cutting straps off, wind will prob blow the thing about everywhere when bikes parked or your trying to get on it!
I had the air hawk and just couldn't get on with it. Probably OK on a cruiser but on a sports/ sporty bike I found it a no no. It cost about £150 and I gave it away to get rid.
Or..how about these..... Cheaper than a gel seat... Saves on packing pants... And, most importantly hides botty sag for a man of your mature years....
My Arse still looks like that I'll av U know Ms Lozzy! Feel free to rock up at any Oulton Track Day to inspect if in doubt!
One guy did tell me that he used padded cycling shorts on long rides and they were great. Not tried them myself, keep forgetting tbh, but the seat I have is pretty good as is.
I've got padded leggings for my mountain bike & thought about the possibility but I bet they get well uncomfy warm under leathers in the summer
Hi Nytol just wondering where you got your seat recovered and gel inset fitted as you live close to me Ashford way?
