Its not the sliper clutch it as it happens when in trafic at low speed but not everytime, yea love how easy it is to ride and can stay in 3rd or 4th for a while through the twist lanes. Managed to scrub my new tyres in after i sand the tyre shine off that they put on at the dealership. Im not that impressed with the bike shop tbh they forgot to stamp the book so have to phone them up 2moro. need get some braided line for it asap tho even though it brakes well there is to much squidgy play in the lever. Other than that proper happy
ok thx guys so i dont have to worry about it then. What braided lines are best i.e hel or goodridge or other
Had creaky cable action on my 2010, bought one of those cheapy cable oil clamps, squirt of chain lube. Smooth as silk.
can you post a link Dave ? my lever doesn't click it's just the return action feels heavier or "springier" in the last 3/4 of letting the lever out...if that makes sense.. thanks
Don't want to sound like a "get out" but my clutch has no odd feel other than its different to my hydraulic SP2. There are no strange noises and the lubing of the cable made all the difference for me. I'm afraid you may have to dig through the threads on this and other CBR forums for weird clutch noises. I wonder if different oil may make a difference? Don't have any more experience than that, mate. I wonder if the previous owner(s) were one for racy starts and there is plate / centre spring wear. Sorry.
Thanks. I think it's just the cable as it feels the same when you let the lever out in neutral, and with motor off. I just wondered what you had bought (not heard of cable clamp you mention) and where did you lube the cable ?
It was one of those £5 things off ebay with 2 thumbscrews and a sort of rubber grommet / sleeve thing inside. It has a hole in the grommet to take the little plastic tube on an aerosol, you just slip your clutch cable off at the lever, clamp it on with the nipple poking out, give it a squirt or 2 until you can see the lube running out on the clutch case. A bit of rag ready is a good idea.
On a different note but because its the same age as mine, don't know your mileage, but I've just fitted a 2013 rear shock with slightly softer spring. When I got the lower 3 bolt linkage apart it became obvious the rearmost lower dogbone joint needle bearing was solid. I had to take a drift to get the centre out. Rusted solid. The others were OK and regreased. I had a spare link so that went on. It can't have helped the action though. Try out the new shock asap.
I'm quite happy with how my shock works it's the front that's abit stiff on mine. Can feel every bump through the front and abit harsh, the shock on the other hand is softish I must be the right weight good tyre wear aswel. But I will have a good look at the links when I set my suspension up on the weekend.
