hi hope you can help me out just a few quick questions on a oil change my last bike hasd a oil window , not a dipstick.
I,am looking to change oil on my CBR1000RR 08 model how much oil does a bike hold I believe it 3.2l is this correct correct ?
also when checking the oilo level with the dipstick I take it the bike needs to be upright ?
Do you screw the dipstick back in or just put in loose up to the start of the thread to check oil level ?

    Many thanks

yes, upright and off the paddock stand. give it a few seconds to level before dipping the stick. also MFL side, means maximum fill line.

You will find MFL written on parts all over the bike, it is the model designation code, most of the part numbers have MFL in the middle

You should check the owner's handbook. I don't know where you got 3.2L from!
    2.8L without filter change
    3L with filter change
    to check the level:
put the bike on side stand, unscrew the dip stick, wipe it off then push is back in until it stops against the hole - do not twist or screw the stick
slowly move the bike sideways towards vertical making sure you don't go past it- how well you do this, will affect the accuracy of the level
after a little wait pull out the dip stick and you'll see the level showing at an angle on the stick; the actual oil level is the middle of the oil line

you can of course do all this while on the bike and this is one reason why Honda use the dip stick method without getting down on your knees on a garage forecourt and excite the attendant:D
