I don't think anyone would expect any different when the basic model is gonna be a match for last years SP and a carbon clad HP4 is upwards of £20k

    Thing is a R1 is £15.5k and the R1M £18.5k.

Or if you can heart it. A RSV4 RF for £18.5K

In which case only the die hards will buy them then! The sensible money will be elsewhere. I expect it to be good though as was the RR8 when it was introduced. It was the least powerful bike in the tests but still romped it.

Other (really nerdy) thing to remember is the how many Yen your GBP are buying post brexit vote...

It might simply be Honda UK are first to adjust prices to reflect 15% (or more) increase needed to pay HQ for the 2017 stock

I'm not denying it will be good. In fact it will be a fantastic road bike and shoot way above its weight on track.

I just don't think it will be that good that it's worth more than a R1 or R1M for the money they are asking.

I'll pass true judgement until I ride it next year along with the other bikes available. Including the R1, GSXR1000R, RSV4R and ZX10R

As always I'll post up all my thoughts and happily be proved wrong and find that the Blade is still the bike to go for.

I couldn't spend 20K on a bike just can't see the value not unless it was something truly special but that's only because my pockets aren't deep enough.

    I'm the same mate.

I honestly think that they need to keep the prices in line with the R1 and R1M as that's the benchmark that they set themselves against.

Regardless of how deep pockets are I think the pricing needs to be keen.

Reading between the lines, Its the same frame and swingarm, just lighter so an engine transplant could be on the cards at some point. It has the SP yokes and I already have an alloy tank and Marchesinis

It's a rush job bike. If they couldn't be bothered to create a new frame

According to the reports in MCN they have redesigned the frame to have more flex with thinner frame walls and a different swingarm. Just because it looks the same doesn't mean it is! Anyway if it's not broke why fix it.

Price wise most people buy on a pcp so on the monthly but I agree 20k plus.....who remember the days of the GSXR 1000 K5 £7995. ....what a bargain that was...I bet you could get on for 4.5k now and still keep up with one of the new class ....

Surely the Sp is the base model and the Sp2 is like the old sp
I.e. Just 2 models , there isn't any mention of a standard blade is there ?

    Yes mate.
There is a standard model with big piston forks as current blade has.

The SP is basically the current SP with the new electronics

The SP 2 is basically an all singing dancing version like the R1M
