I thought he showed great talent during the year. And in particular that terrible rain soaked race at Assen. The rain was torrential, Rossi fell off, and Marquez brought it home in second place - not challenging for the win because it was not worth the risk to try and pass Miller, who was going well but was not in the run for the championship. The Assen race showed he had talent enough to perform well on the bike in very difficult conditions, when Rossi fell and Lorenzo was nowhere to be seen - mature enough not to chase for the win at all costs, but bring it in in second place. Assen was a tough one, and at times like that champions show what they are made of. I get the feeling that he has moved away from the 2015 season controversy, with less ill-feeling directed at him than is still directed at Lorenzo. After all the controversy of 2015 was of no benefit to himself, but rather an accusation of helping someone else. Bought a 93 shirt at Misano, in a sea of yellow VR46 shirts - maybe they will sell a few more 93 shirts next year.
Last season's antics have left a bad taste and he went down considerably in my opinion*, but I have to admit he has ridden a lot more sensibly this year and taken the points he could rather than pushing too hard and falling off. *A fact I am sure he wouldn't give the slightest of f@@ks about [emoji6]
He was not my cup of tea but you got to give it to him, what a fantastic talent, makes moto gp even better, he can kick the ass of my favourite riders (sometimes) lol How he does it, makes Pedrosa, Dovi and others look slow. Moto GP is better with him,,pity we lost Stoner
I did think of that but: The race and title result was on Sunday Monday the race was shown on normal ITV4 Tuesday Wednesday - Result shown on front and back of MCN - "Honda Star Wins Fifth World Title" I posted Thursday So I figured I had given plenty of time for anyone interested to catch up with the news.
This is the sticky from the Racing and Bike Sport thread section. ________________________________________________________ just a heads up for this section but will apply to all area's of the forum If you are going to inform others in a thread or post about what happened in a race (Moto GP, WSB, BSB, F1 etc...) Please include a Spoilers notice for all to see Many people have access to some sort of recording device and may not be able to watch the race live. including myself. So before you post anything about results put a warning up first? As long as it's clear to all. Failure to do so will result in a possible warning, your post will be removed without warning and if you continue to post then you may get a PM from the Admins or mods. So please add that Spoiler notice DO not add who won a race in the title #1Remal, Oct 7, 2012 Last edited: Jun 4, 2013
Thank you Kevin 1. The obvious flaw to this is that there is no specified time clause. It does not say how long after the result is widely published that it is acceptable to post the result. I posted the result AFTER it had appeared on THE FRONT and BACK COVERS of MCN I posted AFTER the full race had been shown on ITV4. There has to be a time clause otherwise this is a nonsense, as it could apply equally to Mike Hailwood winning the 500cc title as it does Sunday's race at Sepang (which I haven't posted). When all is said and done, I did consider others on this forum - I did not post HONDA's World title win until 4 days after the event, and after it had been widely published. So, sorry over to Admin.
A celebration ! Marquez, on a REPSOL HONDA won the World Championship - that is different to "just" winning a race. It is also different to saying that Rossi won a race. This is a HONDA forum. I know a lot of people on this forum do not ride a HONDA, that is fine. But when HONDA rider wins the World Title you should be able to celebrate the fact on a HONDA forum !! Also I did not give away the result of the race (Motegi) in the title - just that Marquez had won the title. Even knowing that Marquez had won the title would not have given away the result of the race. I think on a HONDA forum you should be able to celebrate HONDA wining the world title.
Damn does this mean Marquez has won the title already?, I was going to watch all the races on DVD after the season was over as I can't afford MOTOGP live, well that's my winter spoilt Been avoiding spoilers all season not really
Maybe I'm just a bit too old school and remember the discussions we've had previously about spoilers. We have had great and lengthy discussions on the subject of spoilers and that is why the sticky was posted. If you really want to post and celebrate Honda, then just do it on the original MotoGP thread. Still this action news reporting allows me to get rid of all my recording devices and subscriptions. I can tell BT to cancel my fibre connection as I'll only need dial up in future to check this forum for the results. It'll be a bit like Grandstand or World of Sport but on a Sunday afternoon. Woohoo, I can't wait. PS I used to follow racers etc on Facebook and Twitter until I got fed up of them telling me the result on my phone. So I don't follow any of them anymore. I usually watch MotoGP first when I've recorded the day's racing, and it really annoys me when the commentators give the result or even hint at the result of the previous races. But like I said maybe I'm just old school.
I did not give away the result of a particular race. Marquez went into the race at Motegi as championship leader, and he came out as championship leader - just that he could not be caught - and this was 4 days after the event. I did not give away the race results, he could have placed and his nearest rival fallen - there are many combinations of how this could have resulted. I still think a World Championship title deserves to be splashed on the front page, not hidden as a footnote behind the small adds.
Phew.......... I'm just glad I'm usually sozzled when I watch it......and can't remember the results to post
