A few months ago I gave up the much loved Blade and went naked with a Street Triple RX. It is a great bike but that 675 cc engine did not give me the buzz a 1000cc bike does.

On Thursday I pick up a new Aprilia Tuono 1100 V4 RR in grey. Although the Factory was tempting I decided to be semi sensible and accept that I would not use the standard bike to the max so the factory was overkill. Besides the grey befits my 60 year old appearance.

Nice discounted price and I am so looking forward to getting back on a bike that makes me feel scared again. Pics will follow post pick up.

Surprised you didn't get on with the Street Rx. I love mine, although I am now looking to trade my way up from the CBR1000F to a litre sports (something like a ZX7R or 918 Blade or TL1000S) without having to sell the Trumpet.

Look forward to the pics as do like the Tuono

Think it's hard downsizing in cc as you miss the buzz and flexibility the bigger engines gives you

The Street is a terrific bike, but I have ridden 900 cc plus bikes for about 35 years and tbh I really love the acceleration of the bigger bikes. I never have been too interested in top speed it has always been about the torque.

I miss the buzz, a bike has to make me grin when I twist the throttle, I love that feeling of f....kin hell !!!
Looking at some video footage of the Tuono I think my grin may turn into fear lol.

I have sometimes been very cynical of all the electronic wizardry ( put it down to my age) and now I have been a complete hypocrite and bought a bike with more gizmos than I will probably ever be able to fathom out how to use properly. I will be sussing out the anti wheelie pretty quick as it does seem to be a bike that likes to be on one wheel.

I had a TL1000S for 9 years and loved every minute of. I would have kept it when I got the Blade but couldn't afford to run 2 bikes or store them both. Still miss it and look for it in the for sale ads every now and again.

    Hi,
Picked the bike up late on Thursday, dodgy ride home on new tyres, unfamiliar bike and damp muddy roads and most of it in the dark. Obviously took it easy, especially as have to run it in at a max of 7 thou revs. Luckily bike has really good road manners which surprised me a little as it growls like a wild beast lol.

Too early to give informed feedback apart from being really pleased I got it. It took about 5 minutes to feel totally relaxed with the bike itself. Nice riding position, comfortable, sounds great and so easy to ride, steers so easily. Looking forward to really putting it through it's paces when weather permits.

Great looking bike, love the sound of them at full chat! What exhaust you looking to get for it?

Shame the weather is now against you for enjoying more!

Thanks SPS, going to leave the exhaust for a while, but it will probably be a carbon Akra, but I think they are £800-900.
Weather is a bit of a pain, but as long as it's dry I will be out on it as much as possible.

Personally I think exhaust wise the Austin racing and race fit look best but they are the loudest too! Akra is nice but just looks a bit long

I agree SPS but not sure I would get away with the noise as I live in a small town with an active police force!
