One of the things im looking to change over winter is the chain and sprockets. I keep hearing of going 1 up and 1 down, but also read that its best to stick with the oem front as it has a rubber dampener. Im therefore guessing that I can get similar results by going bigger on the rear to a 45t?

Also, with a larger sprocket is a slightly longer chain needed or stick to 116 link? Where is the best place for a tsubaki sigma ?

    Cheers.

I just dropped one on the front. I've done it on the last few Blades. Makes a noticeable difference without making it a handful. Gearingcommander.com will give you a good idea of the different gear ratios you get from different sprocket combinations.

1 down on the front and 2 up on the back is fine with standard chain and imo makes the bike more enjoyable to ride. Mainly because 1st gear no longer feels like 2nd....but also because you can power wheelie really easily

    Guys,

If you change your gearing will that affect your speedo? Somebody mentioned this yesterday and said that you can buy an accessory to fix this. Is that true?

Yes that's true. Although it will tell you you are going faster than you actually are.
    This also inflates your mileage.

Healtech sell a speedo healer which I'm told is good

I use 520 setup 1 down on the front and two on the rear, OE chain is 118 links, I like using a slightly shorter wheelbase so I'm running 116 links with the wheel almost as far forward as it will go.

No issues with plastic chain guide with one down on the front and realistically that's all you need for the road with a bit more shunt...

Ordered a 43t supersprox and will go 1 down on the front. Any recommendations? Sure i read it was best to get one with the rubber dampener if possible.

Thanks for the help as always.
