Anyone else horrified by the new pricing?
I'm probably wrong but figures I've seen are £15225 for standard and £19125 for the SP1.
They seem to have aimed the bike price squarely at the R1 and R1M but honestly, how many have them have you seen on the road, the R1 never recovered from the £14k price hike years ago imo.
I know Euro4 has added a price hike but considering most dealers have been offering £1000 off the Blade for some time on the outgoing model I think they are going to struggle in this country, I can't afford one that's for sure.
To add another perspective my friend is picking up his S1000RR Sport with the active suspension for £15350, this is the same price as the standard Blade, doesn't make sense to me

Was talking to sales guy today he confirmed them prices, he did say that the sp1 sp2 will sell like the 1198/1299 Ducati panigale people buy them to look at. The standard one is far to highly priced imo when you look at the new gsxr/zx10/BMW etc I am just back from picking up a 16 black special under 12k with £1800 of extras well pleased more than enough for me and no abs or electronic just how I like it.

If there aiming it at the beemer they are falling way short! No active suspension, not even the latest Showa forks, I believe a quickshifter will be an paid optional extra

ok it has new clothes, clocks and LED headlamps, abs that should work but not much else tbh

The engine probably had to be revised for euro4 regs anyway

So what really are you getting for £3000 more over the last model? Makes last years SP look like a bargain compared to this years base model

I've got to be honest, I love the look and write up of the new Blade but I wont be paying £15k+ it needed to be £13,500 tops in line with the new GSXR.

At £15k+ ill be having the new R1 which (and I could be wrong) I think is better than the new Blade will be.

Glad I'm not the only one :)
Don't get me wrong I bet it's a fabulous bike and it's probably worth every penny, but you have to be in the price bracket of your intended market and I'm not convinced this is.
I don't think the Suzuki will be a serious contender against it (and I'm a big Suzuki fan) but the BMW looks a bargain compared to the £19k equivalent SP1.
I'm not an old timer and I know technology advancement costs money I just think they've missed a trick this time.

With PCP they will sell like hot cakes, something like 90% of ducati's & BMW's bought new are on PCP deals.
Ignore all the financial pros n cons, who wouldn't want a new shiny top spec bike for £150 - £170 pcm ?

The trouble with that argument is that Honda's aren't Ducatis or BMW's :)

Be interesting to see the difference in pcp repayments between base model and sp1. Bet it won't be much, so if most buyers use that option to pay, and it's only £30ish more per month for the sp, why would someone buy the base model? (I'm out of the equation as I have to take the wife out for a spin occasionally

I think the pcp could be an issue as I wouldn't imagine the residual values being as strong as something like the beemer. So all of a sudden you are paying more a month for less bike. Honda might try to set high residuals so my advice is don't stick in too much deposit as you won't have that left in the bike at the end of the pcp

I'd be getting one delivered on the 1st of March if the missus didn't want a new kitchen! So I'll probably have to wait until the 67 plate later in the year. I'm not too worried about which bike is the most bang for buck electric wise, I know that Honda isn't ducati or BMW but I consider Honda to be one of the higher end jap manufactures (then Yamaha,Suzuki, sawakaki(not a fan of green)). So I'm just going with what bike I like most, putting it on finance and not worrying about if I could have got a gsxr for £1500 less (or what ever the price difference is). I thought this was a blade forum, but I'm seeing a lot of Honda bashing going on ;)

I'm with you. I get that it's expensive but they have all gone up in price haven't they? Maybe the pricing is a bit different down here but the standard blade is $4k Aus cheaper than the base r1 and the sp is nearly $6k cheaper than the R1M. The sp is also priced in the same bracket as the blinged up version of the s1000rr. For me it comes down to performance and features as long as it can compete with the front runners then I don't see the price as being unrealistic in the current market.

$22,499 for the base and $28,499 for the sp. that's in AUD. For reference a standard 2016 blade was going for $17500 and the R1 is $26,200 and the r1m $34,400. The good s1000rr is $28,000

Sounds like the Uk is getting stuffed on the pricing if the Base model is $4000 Australian dollars cheaper than the base R1 which is £15599 here and the R1M is £19399.
It's not Honda bashing to ask the question why are we being ripped off, pound for pound the BM sounds like the smart option if you want an active suspension bike for £15k.

    That makes the sp £17300.
Typical, even Triumph were selling their bikes cheaper in Australia then the UK a few years back ( might still be the same now ).
It's like I've said before it's what they think the market will pay.

Now that base price sounds about right for a bike with 190bhp, traction control and ABS.

That's the trouble the base model isn't top spec

It's almost like Honda have been reading fairy tales and think they can get away with it
