Looking at a cruise to either Hawaii or alternatively the eastern Med at the moment.

Hawaii appeals as I can go back and see the Arizona at Pearl and for 18 nights. Fly into San Fransico, doing all the Hawaiian islands and flying back from Canada, balcony cabin and including flights for £1100 each, thats not a bad deal.

14 nights in the Med from Southampton is about £800 and it does save having to fly and jet lag ;) Visits Croatia, Greece, Malta, Gib, Lisbon and a few others.

    Decisions, decisions.

Might just have to do both.....:)

Well, as I'm helping my friend with his sons R6 BSS bike I've just come back from Jerez for 4 days, then off to Cartagena for 5 days on 2nd March for the Pro BSB test, handy as I work for him too, so get paid for it too.
Then all 12 rounds of BSB too.

As wife is a Area Sales Manager for a big Communication company and as top manager she has won a all inclusive Sandals resort trip in Bahamas !!
With a chartered flight !!! for all that have excelled in their department and won a trip also, plus partners.

Week at a friends place in Parma Italy.

Then in September me and 5 friends are doing the Crumball Rally, two old cars that can't cost more than £200 each, doing the Nurburgring, then start in Kolbenz in Germany, to Dresden, then Colditz in Poland, then to Prague, then to Munich for 2 days for the Octoberfest beer festival, 7 days in total.

    Roll on 2017

What's this holiday malarkey? Last one I had was a week at Great Yarmouth in a caravan with Wife and lot younger kids about 4 years ago. Though the wife does keep moaning that she needs time in a beach, but as I contract I have to factor in the lost income to the cost if it.

    TT in June

The Motegi GP trip has been cancelled - a lot of time off - expensive place to get to to watch a race - and rather ride my bike in the sunshine in France or Spain.

That is a cracking price . How long does it take for the ship to get from San Fran to Hawaii ?

I don't know and I don't care :) as I enjoy sea days, but at a guess I would imagine a couple of days

The whole trip is 18 nights and there are about 7 ports of call where the ship spends an average of about 10 hours, in some case they do an overnight stop.

The further you go the cheaper it gets.

We considered an 18 nighter which started in Japan but took in Hong Kong, Vietnam, South Korea, China and a few others, and with return flights a 5 star Hotel on arrival before transferring to the ship, it was £1050 all in and including port duties and all taxes.

I can't do a fortnight in Spain for that money and then you have to arrange food, entertainment and you are stuck in one place.

Tony, that price is truly brilliant....

Which cruise line is it with? I think it's about 4 days from San Fran. We looked into it a while back but ended up doing Alaska instead.

We always book through Igloo who always come up with some brilliant deals.

We usually end up on RCi, Carnival or P & O

When we did the Med last time on the Independence of the Seas, we were on an 18 nighter. We paid £800 for a balcony (we only ever have balcony cabins) but there were a couple on the opposite side of our decl who had the identical cabin but only paid £450, but they took it as a last minute booking.

Re-positioning cruises can be very cheap.

For next year I am looking for early 2018 Southampton to the Carribean on a 21 nighter and back to Southamptom, and they are quoting something like £1200. I know if I hang on we will get it for around £800

I was looking at a holiday to Singapore area of the world a few weeks back but the cost were going to be too high .
I have looked on the Iglu site and there is cruise that starts with a couple of days in Hong Kong which is somewhere else i want to visit, and ends with a couple of nights in Singapore for about £1200 per person .
When you take into account the cost of hotel stays in Singapore and Hong Kong it looks like a bargain.

Also take into account that you get 5 star service levels, cabin is cleaned twice daily. you get your own cabin steward. All the food you can eat included 24/7 (and it is fantastic food) live show every night with top entertainers plus all the facilities it makes it even more of a bargain.

You could actually go without spending anything at all. The only costs on top are alcoholic drinks which are duty free prices (but doesn't bother me because I am teetotal :) branded soft drinks and any official shore excursions which can be expensive.

The only place you really have to use the official excursion for peace of mind is in Russia. In the main though we use the red bus tours that operate all over the world and are just as good as official excursions at a fraction of the price.

We have been to places like Honduras, Belize, Estonia, Mexico, and seen things like the Great Belt Bridge in the Baltic (you sail under it) had Dolphins swim alongside us, watched Submarines coming up for air, and then seen the naval graveyard as you come out of Russia which is silent and spooky.

You see things that you would never see flying in, and the whole experience arriving be sea is so different. Coming out of Sweden it is stunning following all the islands and then going into Amsterdam entering the lovk in a 100,000 ton ship and following the canal for 2 hours from the North sea is such a different experience.

Yeah, we cruised around Iceland and onto Norway for my 50th. The level of pampering was almost embarrassing to an in the blood socialist like me, but it is a completely different perspective to travelling. This was on one of the smaller Fred Olsen ships too. Felt more of a liner than a moving hotel.

But... it was fecking expensive. A lot more expensive than your deal, Tony.

Looks as though it is going to be spent in the same way as it has been for the last few years, in the caravan and competing at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough, The Ulster Grand Prix and a few other Irish road races.

Well Fred Olsen is a bit like a cross channel ferry in that they are older, much smaller and are considered to be quite a bit more expensive by all accounts.

We just shop around. There are good deals to be had all the time . 100_0822.JPG

This is passing under the bridge as you depart Lisbon. You really feel like you could reach up and touch the bridge
