Shamefully for me I haven’t followed it since it has gone pay per view. I used to be addicted to it too.

when 46 retires there might be a few less fans? will be interesting to see actually!
pay per view is not a problem dessp2 either mate, I sadly used to smoke (20 years ago) and even with sky, Netflix and Amazon I pay out half of what fags cost me and am healthier too, win win mate...

Sorry but WTF is Lorenzo doing there. Done f**k all, consistently been out ridden by his team mate, regularly beaten by satellite teams. Without spoiling today's race for those who haven't seen it could you imagine him being able to cope with the top 6-7 riders today.

Anyway to answer your question my rider of the season is not in your list. My choice is Johann Zarco and that is despite him being ffffff-french!!!

From your list it is Dovi, simply because he has done better than I thought he would and has also removed Lorenzo's ability to blame the bike for his pi$$ poor performance. Still not 100% convinced though that Ducati kept the right Andrea though.

I'll go with 93 Marc marquez , from his last season in moto2 when he won from the back of the grid , iv been a big fan he puts it all on the line and races to win , bikes are alot closer this season but I think Marc still has that extra bit .
I will also add that it will be a sad time for moto gp when Rossi hangs up , lots of 46 fans in every country

    Lozzy and SimonRR,

I am a bit of a live sport weirdo too. I don’t know why but I am only interested on watching it there and then rather than later on. I am going to have to rekindle my long life love affair with Motorcycle racing as it has gone off the boil I’d say in the last two years. My favourites have always been MotoGP, BSB and I really like Endurance racing like the Suzuka 8 hours etc. I loved WSB in its classic years and not really been bothered about it since 2009 when Ben Spies wrapped it up. One could say I have been a bit of a spoilt (t)wat. So next year is the year. Simon, 20 years great effort. It’s been ten years for me and I have never once been tempted to go back to cigarettes.

Always have and will be a Rossi fan but I think Dovi deserves a nod this year.

Would have to say Marquez this year purely for his spectacular style and always pushing his limits and pretty much never give up attitude!

Dovi is a close second for me though as he's really shown form this season.

As far as Lorenzo is concerned......he's a multiple world champion and easily one of the best riders on track Fact! It's his first season on a notoriously difficult bike to ride which even Vale couldn't master! Also let's not forget that Dovi has been on this bike for nearly 5 years now, rarely ran at the front and has always been in the shadows of his team mate and always had number 2 status.......this year has been an amazing year for him and I'm sure Lorenzo will win races next year and to say he's been piss poor is a bit harsh as he's consistently improved in the right direction!

Rossi will always be the best !!!

The Lorenzo/Ducati situation is a strange one. Lorenzo has proved he can ride - no doubt.

However, what has happened in many races in the latter part of the season is that he has bolted from the line, headed the field, BUT has gradually fallen back after about 8 laps - in both wet and dry races. That raises many questions. Does Lorenzo's Ducati underperform after other bike's tyres are up to temperature? Questionable, because Dovi usually overtakes him as well.

Last week showed the first glimpse of Lorenzo being able to sustain a good pace for the whole race. Forgetting the slip-up into the back straight and the 'team orders' I think Dovi would have nailed him by the flag. Perhaps next year will be do or die for him, becuause he must be pissed about his infrequent podium visits.

Just occurred to me while watching Q2 qualifying (recorded from yesterday) that Lorenzo actually won the final round of the 2016 season!!!!!

Oh nooooooo........he's just binned it !!!!!

Come on Dovi..........but it's Marquez's to lose now.

All in all everyone on the grid is pretty much within a second of each other at the end of qualifying and not to far away over full race distance nowadays so they're all amazing riders!

He just doesn't help himself sometimes - he managed to spray himself in the face with Champagne at the Malaysian GP - I think Dovi saw it happen

Seems to be a pattern of Spanish Riders holding up Italians in championship deciders :)

Saying that, well done Marquez, he won it on his own as far as I’m concerned, he seems a very happy chap all the time and he loves his bike racing, that’s good enough for me in a racer, I also think he’s matured quite a bit, when he started he seemed a one trick pony and could go very fast which gave him problems when conditions weren’t ideal, this year he seems more composed and taking stock of tyres, when to pass, when to go for it.

I’ve always thought Lorenzo was a miserable twat, so was Stoner, both talented no doubt but smile FFS the pair of you, you’ve got the best job in the world :)
