That would be interesting to find out. Some reports (not stats) suggest one in three sold are SPs, but I wonder whether Honda customer service would release such detail to the public or whether a dealer might (on the side) whisper a few details?

Sounds expensive! I paid £7900 for my first new Blade in 2007!

Agree - prices seem crazy for them now!

Thanks Ian E. That is an amazing resource I was not aware of. Great piece of info for stats followers.

You might have noted that I have an interest in SP2 figures. There are unconfirmed reports of 35 to 39 having been delivered in UK. Your link shows 24 accounted for via tax/sorn. It is easy to find a few scattered among dealers, so that suggests only half a dozen or so have gone to race teams.

The next batch is confirmed for late March/Early April, but strangely, Honda has gagged me via a confidentiality agreement to not disclose figures. Rather strange attitude given that Honda's charter is to sell bikes and NOT hide them from the public. Cheers!!

Doesn't seem to differentiate S1000RR models?

Street Tripple RS - 753 by Q3, not bad going.

    They are still doing 0%.
In fact some Honda dealerships have Honda subsidising their finance agreements to 4 years from 2 years making monthlies cheaper.
Wife looking at new blade, matt black for £149/month.
SP is £174/month, both on minimum deposit of about £900.

I wonder if that suggests some dealers might be struggling to sell bikes?

For what it's worth, my dealer in Stratford-upon-Avon told me they'd had an extraordinarily good March.

And Ratser, I don't know if your wife would get the opportunity of test riding an SP, but I can vouch that their handing is magnificent. A very light and nimble bike. Your consideration of course would be whether the extra £25.00 per month is justified.

Unfortunately, I can't offer a like comparison with the 'standard' Blade. I could put the word on @dainesefreak for a run on his matte black, but then he'd expect me (rightfully) to hand over my SP. I guess that blows the deal:D.

Dunno if they are struggling or whether there is something new expected to come out from Honda again.
The Honda garage at Ayr has standard blades with £1,500 off the price, but not the same finance deals.

I test rode the standard blade last year and to be honest, found very little difference to my current 2013 steed, other than smaller and lower screen.

She is very tempted at the SP mate, but just don't think she can justify the extra cost never mind insurance.
She is finding it hard to justify new blade price for it to sit in the garage 6 months of the year.

My local dealer said they'd had a really good Q4 when I went it to do the deal in January. I don't think that was down to Blade sales, as they only ever seemed to have a couple in stock and I'm fairly sure they were in the showroom for quite a while. In fact coming up to the end of Q3 they had 2 SPs in stock and one of the sales guys said he'd rather have £40k worth of scooters and make £500 per bike.

I told them 24 months interest free wasn't good enough and they did a 36 month 0% instead; but they had to take a hit on the interest to do it. I also got just over £1500 off the RRP, but I have have 7 bikes off them so far. If I'd have gone for the SP I would have expected more off too.

I really don't think there's much in it ride wise between both. I had justified the SP and was all set to do a deal on one until my lad emotionally blackmailed me into needing a pillion seat.

Long story. Started off at £8373.80 with MCE via MCN compare. After a suggestion by another member, I dropped the cover value to £19,950. Ran the same quote process, and was quoted £579.80 by MCE. Go figure? Still high, but I snapped it up nevertheless.

I had (at the time) my 2011 and MV with MCE so thought I'd do well to 'add' the SP2 to the other policy. Worked out to £1800. WTF comes to mind.

Tried Bennetts, with whom I have my RR4, but they wouldn't cop the high value. Perhaps if I'd said it was an 'ordinary' Blade, I could have got the quote right down, but then, in the event of a claim, they'd most likely dishonour it because of misrepresentation.

I have to go through the mill again later this month because my 2011 is due for renewal.
