Think you're missing the point, the 3rd Gen S1000rr kicked the blades arse with its electronics & host of extras, auto blipper, cruise & heated grips to name a few, The new beemer has moved things even further away from the blade.

It's not a personal attack on your SP Wozza. The SP is gorgeous. But this new BM does look bloody good....(so far)

When was the s1000rr introduced, 2010 ish? They seem to be pushing constantly with developments like the hp4 race whose technology surely trickles down to the road bike.

I know it's not all about specs and there are x factors and other elements to how a bike makes you feel but to me the 2017 blade is the bike we should have had in 2012.

I don't give a hoot a rode all the others .....including the v4s....buy what you like....at the end I go faster what I am more comfortable on ...not what mag says this or that....for me it's a toy not loyal to any brand just what feels best for me....factors like dealer service come into it.....free servicing ....best finance deal no doubt will have a go on the BMW but Just don't like it....GSXR 1000 rode it didn't think much of build quality had a k5 back in 2005 no issue with that......Zx10r I have Short T. rex arms long stretch to the bars....R1M dealer didn't come back to me Aprilla lovely bit of kit but couldn't touch floor V4s tempted but not 5k worth more than the sp.....

I thought it was a bit overlooked - maybe the original design had it covered but in the end version it wasn't and it was left bare. I thought they went to a lot of effort to make the motor look nice, the fairings - all good. But that bit - overlooked.

    I fully agree mate.

I've ridden most of the other super bikes, owned an RSV4 (which I sold after 8 weeks as every time I took it out I wish I'd taken my blade), the R1M was possible the worst bike I've ever ridden, it was back to the dealer after 20 minutes.

Tried most of the super nakeds, and adventure bikes, and nothing was as good as the Fireblade (to me).

No, but there is a certain camaraderie between 2018 SP owners that is unparalleled by fellow riders:D:D.

(Woz, mine is stuck on about 1300. I have Bilbo Baggins coming around today to dig it out for an afternoon blast around The Shire!!;))

What year rsv4 did you have?

I've got the 17rf and in 2 minds weather to get rid, gonna try it on track 1st. But it not a great road bike"

Best bike I've owned was 2015 s1000rr, found my 14 blade bland. The bm was the only bike I never felt I had to change gearing, add power commander or any engine mods to get the best from it. But it did come with all bmw hp extras apart from forged wheels and carbon belly pan. Just a shame the dealer wrote it off and 2 local dealers are shite

Do you both refer to your bikes as "my precious"?

They are quoting 19k for the base model and 23k for the m pack which is the lighter wheels....(worth having} M logo seat ( so what } and of course what every superbike needs heated grips and cruise control which for my needs don't need at all as ride on Twisty A roads could be a laugh set to 110 mph and see if you can make a bend you normally take at 70mph....euro prices can find uk price yet

Pretty sure cruise and heated grips will be on the base model. Defy anyone to say they don't want cruise control on a bike after having had it. Anyone who does 200 mile days or goes off to Scotland for a few days on their bikes will agree.
