Okay, so the harness mod comes in a small box maybe 6” x 4” x 1” along with two small rubber grommets, a bullet connector, couple of cable ties.....

    upload_2018-11-24_15-14-5.jpeg

I took the backs off the headlights and pulled the plugs off the back of the bulbs. On the low beam side (on the right as your sat on the bike) the existing plug goes in the socket shown upper left on the above image + to the white wire (green is negative earth)......

    upload_2018-11-24_15-19-7.jpeg

And the new 90 degree plug (top right of that first image) goes on the bulb.

Moving to the other side the the bottom left new socket takes the existing high beam plug with + to the blue (sorry I know it looks green in the photo, but its defo the blue wire as green again is the negative earth as per this excerpt from the official wiring diagram)....

    upload_2018-11-24_15-31-14.jpeg upload_2018-11-24_15-32-9.png

The new 90 degree plug (mid left of the first image) pushes on the back of the high beam bulb. Turn the ignition on and it works........

Happy with that I set about making it permanent. I opted to drill a 3mm hole in each cover so as to be tight on the wire and didn’t bother with the grommets provided. Nor did I intend using the crimp on bullet connector. I cut the link wire maybe 2” away from the low beam plug end, fed it through the two covers and slipped on a bit of shrink wrap ready for soldering. MAKE SURE YOU THREAD THE COVERS ON THE RIGHT WAY ROUND BEFORE SOLDERING - I know its obvious but its also an easy mistake to make..........

upload_2018-11-24_15-38-25.jpeg Soldered the two ends and covered with the shrink wrap upload_2018-11-24_15-39-34.jpeg

A dab of clear silicone sealant on the inside of each cover where the wire comes through even though its a good tight fit as belt and braces and then put it back on the bike. All the new harness bits fit inside the associated headlamp housings so all very neat. MAKE SURE THAT THE BULBS HAVENT BECOME DISPLACED FROM THEIR SEATS with all the pulling off and on of the plugs I spotted both of mine had moved. Once all back together the only give away is the link wire between the two covers.

The beauty of it is that if you hold the pass button on the handlebar in and turn the ignition switch on and keep holding the pass for a few seconds, you can turn the unit off and on so come MOT time no need to start mauling, you can just disable the unit and its as stock.

Jens was really helpful his email is [email protected] and for my 2016 Black Edition it was the H7 Direct Version at €73 all in including postage. It took just over a week to arrive and its a very well made piece of kit. He also provided a link to the instructions for setup etc in English http://www.jn-elektronik.de/wp-cont...on-and-programming-DLV3.x-V4.x-plugn-play.pdf

This is brilliant. It took probably 90 minutes (@nigelrb) for me to complete but a lot of that was finding my soldering iron and the heat shrink. It’s very easy literally child’s play for even the least technically savvy rider.

Looks normal now. I'm not big on the single headlight. I think with the black fairings the lights (obviously) stand out more, so this mod is quite effective for 70-odd quid!

I’m guessing that as they are LED’s the draw is lower than one bulb anyway so no risk of overheating anything, but what about MOT time @Jez ?

They look like projector light fittings
Shouldn’t have any problems with less at mot time mate and there’s a few on here with them, my mate has done exactly the same thing with twin headlights and went straight through also

Friggin' hell. After that lot I'm not sure you'd be able to find the bike, let alone the bloody headlight!!:)
