929 Front Sprocket Bolt grrrrrrrrrr

    help/advice !!!!!!!

    Front sprocket bolt is seized solid.
    Soaked in WD40
    Tried using breaker bar
    More WD
    Bought an Impact Gun, still no joy !!!!!!

    At a loss now, ideas please !!!

    get some heat on it and use a breaker bar

    im surprised an impact gun wont touch it, have you tapped it will hot with a hammer to maybe break the grip on the threads

    I agree with heat and tapping with hammer on the head sometimes it needs to be loads of heat but don't melt the seals. impact gun is better than breaker bar as it is less likely to shear, Good luck Do not rush

    Finally got the fookin bolt out !!!!!
    Carefully cut washer away with dremel.
    Soaked it in Aerokroil.
    Buzzed it off with impact gun.

    Rigmarole !!!!!!

    Things like that can turn a 20 mins job into an all day nightmare

    Totally agree Gaffa. As I've mentioned in my Chinese Fairing thread, we approach our task with enthusiasm thinking, 'Yeah, I should be done in one hour, ' and then 5 hours later we're hardly advanced!:rolleyes:

    So matzxr, I guess you're on a roll now!!:)

    I used to be a full time motor mechanic nigel, so have had plenty of experiences of "oh shit" moments. :oops::rolleyes::mad::eek:

    what is the torque setting when replacing the front sprocket ?

    The last time I had this exact same problem, I used a soldering iron on the head for a while and got it quite hot and hey-presto out it came... Not the 5 min job that I thought though. :)

    So, new sprocket, new washer and bolt on.

    New problem !!!!!!!
    Replacing rear tail unit, back light screws seized !!!!! Cannot shift them, even ground 2 flats on one to use a 7mm spanner, mounting post nearly snapping off.
    Never had a Honda before, won’t get another that’s for sure, hating this bike.

    and the Honda build quality is generally better than the alternatives

    This is very debatable.
    Restored a few 89 exups, never had grief like this and they’re 12yrs older.

    I get CRACK all the time - but not from Screwfix!!:D

    well the best thing for seized rusty nuts is Acetone mixed with ATF
    As for Crack i cant comment unless its the hairy variety o_O
